Keith, the mounting brackets are different for the various windbreaker cabs. There are several variations, one for the 70/100, one for the 71, 72, 1x2/3 and 1x4/5, one for the 73, 1x6/7, one for the 86, 1x8/9, one for the Quiet Line series, one for the 82 series and so on. Having said that, a windbreaker for a 86, 1x8/9 series could be made to fit a 73, 1x6/7 series with not too much modification, it'll take a little more modification to make it fit a 72, 1x4/5 series due to the difference in the fender mounts. You thinking of buying that nice NOS Wide Frame Windbreaker from CC Specialties?

on my way out to try starting the 128 with a new plug.

if backfire can kill a plug, then that is probably what happened, it backfired every time it stalled when hot.

rear suitcase weights vs wheel weights on a 128.

i was looking for wheel weights for my 128 to use with a snow thrower. but i see some of you are using rear suitcase weights, i always thought wheel weights were for traction while in the snow and suit case weights(or car rotors)were for counter balance with a loader so, at the risk of starting another debate, which is better?

i am not having much luck with wheel weights on ebay, i can buy new 70Lbs for 220. and everybody on ebay is paying over 100. for used 25 Lb.

Frank-

My preference is to use wheel weights only, as then there's no extra stress on the bearings in the axle tubes. I've got 300 lbs. on the back of my 782, and it's all in/on the wheels.

it is alive!

new plug, 128 started without a problem.

and, i now know how to properly test for spark and my new spark tester does not work.

so, it is a great day.

Frank:
I don't think the weights know the difference..
Matt G:
I was worried about axle capacity a long time ago, but got to thinking about how heavy some of the Cub rear attachments are, then how heavy the counterweights for a FEL are (and IIRC, IHC featured third party FELs in some of their attachment brochures). At that point, I quit worrying and was happy..

Frank:
If you get a lot of backfiring ("Pull"

) when shutting it down, the muffler may be loading with raw gas and then igniting when it gets enough oxygen back in the exhaust pipe. You might want to check your carb settings, go a little leaner. This could also be why your plug was carboned up...Good work on getting 'er going!! Also, if you let it idle down for a short period before shutting off, it'll cool the muffler down and prevent some of that racket...

Kraig,
Yes, I was considering it. I was going to mount it to my 127 with thrower. Although the wife may have shot it down. Hmm, she doesn't know about the 126 I'm looking at getting too. It'd be neat to have a matching pair. She said I've been spending too much lately, which I have I'll admit.

Hey Jerry B, got room for a sleeping bag? I may need it if I keep this up.
