Hello All,
I'm new to this board (and to Cub Cadets) and hope that y'all will be able to help me out. I recently got a free Cub Cadet 102 from a friend. It used to run fine two years ago but "something in there broke."
I'm starting to learn mechanics and I understand most the mechanical aspects of the tractor, but the electrical components are not something I am familiar with. The tractor came partially disassembled, with a big box full of parts and fasteners, and a dead battery.
Once I charge the battery, I fully doubt it will run due all these loose wires. The hardest thing to identify in my parts bin is a round cylinder with a wire coming out , complete with a mounting bracket that goes...somewhere (see pic). I'm guessing this is a capicitator of some kind, but I don't know.
When I noticed the choke wasn't working right I took off the air filter and found the choke cable braket wasn't there at all (easy fix I assume) and two loose wires (see pic 2). I really just don't get along with electrical systems here, what are they?
Finally, I have uninstalled headlights, which I assumed would be really simple to figure out and have not really looked at them, but considering my luck I won't understand those either.
Otherwise, the tractor seems to be in good shape, except that the old owner decided to paint the hood and other parts black, and one of the wheels John Deere green
. While I do plan on using my Cadet for work, I will restore (or at least get the paint colors right) this Cadet to some sort of glory, assuming I can get it to work.
Thanks in Advance!
