Ken-
I bought that exact model picture from from Best Buy for my wife as a Christmas gift. The holidays were too busy for me to load any pictures on it. The exact day I came home from work thinking I was going to load it up with pictures, that virus story broke on the news.

I called the "customer non-support" number on the back of the box and they claimed they were going to send me a flash card with an anti-virus on it that would "fix" the frame-virus issue. That phone call happened on 2/1/08, and I still have yet to see anything from the company.

If you've got Autorun shut off on your PC, you can safely plug it in, then scan the files that are on the frame. It will mount as another USB storage device. The ones I've seen all had some demo pics on them that can be deleted. A standard AV scan should be run on the "drive" that you see also. I'd distrust any support CDs that came with it, but the ones I've seen didn't come with one....

BTW - I bought one from Best Buy too, and haven't had any trouble at all with my PC, as a matter of fact, it njbsd and errttfs much better than it used to....... and it never touches my sfhrsfdfcss eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Ken I-
Thanks for the thoughts, but they are (supposedly) sending me a flash-card which has the antivirus on it. Plug the frame into a wall outlet, slap the flash card into the side of the frame and let it do it's thing.

No computer interface needed.

Supposedly is the key word here...

Art - See , buying something CHEAP for your wife at Christmas came back to haunt you !
You should have got her that new car and house she wanted

Bottom line is that China has gone to war with us in every non-military way that they can come up with.

This stuff with China is begining to get frusterating. How do you know what to trust and what not to? I don't want to speak badly of an entire country but they sure are fast gaining a reputation of cheap and underhanded tricks.

I sure am glad I haven't spent my hard earned money on Chineese picture frames.

I'm sure glad I saw this post. The missus and I got one for a wedding present back in Sept. Now I don't feel so bad about not knowing how to make the dumb thing work...

Anybody remember back in the 80's when stuff from Taiwan was crap? I bought a shop fan made in Taiwan 'cause money was tight. Pretty much a cheap copy of a Patton. When put along side a Chinese fan the guy next to me has, that Taiwan fan is first rate industrial grade!

You guys just don't get it do ya ...

They've tried feeding lead to our kids
They've tried killing or pets
They are hacking into the Pentagon and power grids
They are stealing National Defense secrets via spys and US traitors
There are thousands of them going to school here picking up on whatever they can (not just leget school or social things)
They are spending money on their military like there's no tomorrow (and they may not be if they aren't put in check)
Who's their biggest threat ? Us that's who !

The picture frame thing stealing online gaming passords was just a dry run trial for what's coming ...

Who's to say that EVERY digital item coming out of China wont be preloaded with spyware to get your credit card numbers and identy.

MP3 players
GPS'
blank hard drives
blank disc
memory cards/sticks
all the operating disc for printers/scanners/cameras/cell phones/PDAs/DVRs ...
the list is growing everytime a product is sold and almost all of it is made in China.

KENtuckyKEN. I get it. Sad to say I am not as dumb or innocent as I portray myself. I've said this stuff for years only to be literally laughed at to my face. We are becoming so "acceptance" for lack of a better word to things in our world. For instance... 1st time EXXON posted enormous profits there was an uproar. Next time...mild burp. This latest... "acceptance." As a former coworker once told me, QUOTE>>> "If it doesn't affect me upfront then I don't give a damn. If others can fight the battle for me and I benefit then that is great. Why should I do any work?" Well, that dumb nice person is still working at that place and I've gone on to better myself. I can kick and scream all I want to ... only it boils down to...."acceptance." WE are our own worst enemy. When consumers should be telling automakers to build more efficient vehicles instead of gas guzzlers... do they? Nnnoooo... When we should be voting out these so-called "evil politicians" do we? Again No. Why because we figure their tenure and seniority will benenfit us when we need some favor. So before I go read the rest of the forum.... I close with.... "acceptance." WE'VE chosen to "accept" rather than stand tall and demand an end to this kind of world.

Noticed on MSN that Walmart will open 400 more medical clinics in thier stores in the next 2 years. I guess China is needing to sale more med. supplies.

Marlin,

I guess Ken has reached acceptance status with his brand of off road truck. I wonder if he'll do the same with Chinese products someday.

I will say this. Yes, I agree with what KENtuckeyKEN states. China is a definate threat to our country. On their priority list as a military threat we are #1. I was informed this awhile back. They truly do not care how they break us whether militarily or econonomically. Last year, I had the chance to visit with a young man from China. VERY intelligent and was undecided about returning to China. He is here with his wife for an education. He said that his country refers what WE call the Korean Conflict to and this is trying to recall because I am quite sure he said they call it Truman's War. Thus blaming the President of the United States at the time. It was never an act of aggression on their part. Again very intelligent only just something about the "wide-eyed innocence". Maybe it was just me at the time.

Now a little more about my feelings on this delicate subject. Think about how the head of Mattel (or some big shot) had to apologize to Chinese officials because there at first wasn't deemed sufficient quantities of lead found in toys from China this past Christmas. EXCUSE ME.... once there was sufficient quantities found did China apologize? I believe the answer is .... No!!! More than one parent would tell me they had a hard time finding toys not made in China for their children. This is why I will be very disappointed with MTD if they choose a company that isn't American made toys come out with a 50th year tractor.

About the pet food poisonings and other shenanigans they are pulling. Let us get some sense and perspective on things here. Why aren't more people speaking up as KEN is so desperately trying to do. I have much admiration for him and what he is saying. We keep "ACCEPTING" things and not fighting back then we truly deserve our fate. As a nation and as citizens we should be calling our congressmen and women and simply letting them know that China's actions or ANY country that tries this same stuff is totally unacceptable. Also, let your friendly congress person know that if they want to keep their job that they'd better listen to your requests. If more people did this and truly voted out of office these politicians that are acting on their own self betterment program this would help turn around things in a hurry.

In closing.... It is extremely sad that you buy an old car, truck, tractor and see all the Made in U.S.A. stamped parts on it. You go to restore or recondition it and.... "Oh, man.... these were made in...?????" My biggest trouble in life is sometimes I just can't ACCEPT everything handed to me.

Cub Cadet (MTD) is also using Chinese made engines on thier lawn mowers (they call it a Cub Cadet engine) It took 3 e-mails before they would admit that they were chinese made.

Marlin, Ken, I agree. Most of this wont get any better till the "gimme gimme generation" figures it out the hard way. When kids a taught in a govenment school that the government will take care of them and then listen to this current crop of socialist running for president offer them "free" health care, baby bonds, college education ect. Why should they actually have to think for themselves? I love the governments "free" stuff. The people in this country are already to complacent to understand that the money to pay for this stuff is coming out of the pocket of hard WORKING Americans.
I wish I had the room here and could remember the short story that Rush Limbaugh had on to day about the angry white male. He is a hunter, a hard worker, veteran, father, a beer drinker, a profesional, an engineer ect. The descripion sounded a lot like Ken (only because he the guts to put his point across very well) and the rest of us.

Mr. Weaver, my hat is off to you sir, your a great American. I am looking forward to shaking your hand at Plow day.

Deano

Your gonna swell his head so much you'll have to pull him down to shake his hand
