PLOW DAY STILL ON - UPDATED CONTENT - CHANGES DUE TO COVID SITUATION

We will be hosting Garden Tractor Plow Day at the Blunier farm in Roanoke, IL 61561

Saturday 10/24/20 9:00 AM - ???

There will be no night plowing Friday or potluck meal like in previous years. Feel free to drop your trailer, Friday if you'd like.

There will also be no food stand for lunch Saturday...too many hoops to jump through for 4H club in these odd times.

There will be no door prizes.

Shop and buildings will be closed, it will be an outdoor only event.

Porta Potty and hand sanitizer will be available on site.

We ask that all participants maintain 6' social distancing and have masks available if closer contact in required.
This out of respect for everyone involved and respect for current Illinois guidance on gatherings.

Maps and other important information to follow ~2 weeks before event.

Thanks to all for your understanding of our need to adapt the event to the current situation.

Steve, Big Steve, and the Blunier Family

Additional information:

See attached maps for field location, parking, vendors, restroom, field access routes etc.

Please respect the Off Limits areas. As stated previously, due to COVID all of the buildings will be closed and the farm yard proper an off limits area.

Please follow traffic routes to and from the field as marked on the maps. NOTE: The farm driveways were just seal coated. USE EXTRA CAUTION to make sure your PLOW IS RAISED and DOES NOT GOUGE the driveway surface (Thanks!).

Google Maps will provide good directions if you use "1582 County Rd. 1300 N, Roanoke, IL 61561".
If lost ask for directions to Roanoke Apostolic Christian Church.

There is no rain day, so please stay tuned for any cancellation information on this site/thread. (Pray for good weather!)

Thanks,

Bluniers

More rain overnight than we wanted/needed. If you are traveling from a long distance you may want to reconsider plans for leaving early. Extra rain has made plowing Saturday very questionable

That is so cool Steve Blunier! I used to live near Roanoke in Germantown Hills, IL, within sight of often used IL Hwy 116.

Sorry to hear that Steve.
Just to far for me to go for just a one day deal.
Already have the camper loaded too.
Maybe in 2 more years...
However, I'm sure you all will have a great time.

Final Decision:

Plow Day is on, BUT here's the deal. We went out and tried it about 4:30 Friday. If wind stays like it is overnight it will probably come around enough to proceed.

1) LATE START. Plan on arriving no earlier than 10 AM. Get an early lunch then head out.

2) Its going to be wet and sticky. Your tractor will get muddy......

3) I cant promise perfect conditions, but what the heck....its COVID, we need to play.

Agree!

Remember how Tom Sawyer got her Aunt Polly's fence whitewashed?

I wish I could have been at Steve's Annual Blunier Plow Day enjoying great fun too! :)
