    Xtream sleeve hitch question

Has anyone bought any of the "Xtreme Hitch - Lower Sleeve Hitch U-Brackets" from Xtreme Motorworks? I'd like to know if I should buy one with or without "ears" for my 982. What are the ears anyway. The description suggests that the ears go to the axle tubes in some way. Thanks -everett

    Tiller installation

Firstly, Based on Wesley Westerfields recent post I'm thinking that I might be posting questions in the wrong location. I have a Cub Cadet IH 982, made in (I think) 1982-3 Should I be posting in the "CCC and MTD Machines & Equipment" forum? Let me now and I will happily move there...

    50 inch mower deck

I broke the belt in my 50 inch deck. When I took the top of the deck off to get at the belt I noticed the pulleys were pretty rusty and pitted. Is there a way to clean them up or should I just replace them? How do I remove them? and what torque setting for the nuts when I put them back on...

    Electric Actuators

Anyone out there using electric actuators for things like 3 points or sleeve hitches? How about an electric front-end loader. I found this site that sells them for pretty cheap. Some have 400lbs of force, enough for the above applications I would think. http://www.firgelliauto.com/ -everett

Pulling an engine out of a 982

I need to pull the Onan engine out of my 982. I've got the fuel line disconnected, the drive shaft pulled out, and I pulled all the bolts (4?) that connect the engine to the frame. Now what? It's to heavy to lift by hand, and I don't see how to lift it out with an engine hoist. Assuming I...

    Sleeve hitch

I just contacted Aaron Schmidt at Xtreme Motorworks about getting parts for putting a sleeve hitch on my 982. He said I would need to find "<font color="ff0000">the cast iron top part and rod that go up to the deck lift hydraulic cylinder.</font>" Anyone know what that is? The rod I can...

    Weight?

How much weight is too much weight? I'm putting 110 pounds of wheel weights on my 982 and I've built a rear rack that I can put another 150lbs on if I want too. Plus me at 160. That's over 400 pounds. Will I be burning up bearings or stressing the hydro with this kind of weight? I know the 982s...

    Fuel pump pressure

Anyone know what the pressure coming out of the fuel pump on an Onan B48G should be? I want to test mine and replace it if necessary. I'm thinking about an electric pump and pressure regulator that can be adjusted between 3-5lbs. It's in my 982 -everett

    Rear rims

I think I've asked this before but I don't remember getting a good answer. Where can I get new rear rims for my 982? They are 12X12. I'd like new but would be happy with really good used ones. -everett

    Snow is coming!

It's a little early in my area (north of Spokane WA.) but the weatherman is predicting snow for the end of the month. It probably won't amount to much but I'm kinda eager to try out my snow thrower. I got it in the middle of last winter not working right and by the time it was working the snow...

    Cold Starting question

It Got down to 18 degrees F here in Chattaroy Washington last week, and I had a bit of trouble getting my 982 with an Onan engine to start. The cold snap was a little early so I still haven't switched to the winter oil yet (I'm thinking synthetic multi weight) but I don't think it should have...

    Rear PTO

I have a 982, that does not have a rear PTO. Anyone out there have a photo of their 982 (or similar) that does have a rear PTO? I'd like to see what one looks like. -thanks EverettDale

    Loaders pumps and a 982

Hi all. I've got a 982 and plan to build a loader for it this fall. I asked Joe on a previous thread about whether or not the Hydro was running his loader and hoe. He said that his had an external pump that ran them. What I want to know now is could the hydro pump enough fluid to run a...

    Rear rack

My 982 doesn't have a 3 point so I have no way of attaching anything to the rear of my tractor. I do have a hitch ball that is on a piece of angle steel attached to the bottom two rear end cover bolts. I don't like to put a lot of weight on the ball, it seems that it would put a lot of stress on...

    Wheels and tires

The guy at Les Schawb said that the tire size that are on my 982 (12X12X26) are a fairly common size used on ATVs and such. My question is could I use wheels for an ATV as well, or is the lug pattern different? For that matter, does anyone know what the pattern is so I can see if the tire guy...

    982 Stopped working

Hey. I was cutting some tall grass with my Cub Cadet 982 with an Onan engine and it started getting really hot. I stopped mowing and let it idle for a few minuets then shut it down. It will not start now. I drug it into the shop and I can't get any spark. any suggestions as to what might be...
