So, anybody know what this bracket is??

It's on a 1961 Original that "wandered" into my garage last week. Looks like it may be OEM but can't say for sure, or what it may be for?

Anthony, that would be for the PTO engagement (aka Idler Control Rod) for use with a BB36 snowthrower. The BB36 had a built in PTO of sorts which used an idler pulley to put tension on the drive belt.

If there is one thing I have learned now, in the nearly 4 years I have been hanging around here, it is that these little IH rigs are built tough......

But really now....
A 7/16" bolt and nut, not just one , but TWO!!, to hold clips for a wire harness !!!???

Dave: When we had the "H" I got used to IH using what seemed to be a size or 2 larger fastener than I was used to expecting, but you're right, that's a LOT of overkill!

Got Ya covered there Kraig!!
I stripped the old rubber off, then let 'em sit in some vinegar overnite. The rust'n' crap just turns to mush and wire brushes off. Gave 'em a coat or 2 of black then sprayed the ends w/plasti dip from the spray can. works good.

Here's another question for you guys...
I got the 301 buttoned up and need to know what kind of sealer, if any, should I use on the exhaust elbow that screws into the block. I managed to salvage the elbow by cutting off the damaged threaded end and welding a short threaded piece from the end of double wall 1" nipple.

The block was a real pain to clean up because the PO had welded the elbow to the block and the threads were all buggered up because of that.

Permatex copper anti-seize is supposed to be good to 1800 degrees F.

Plowed up a small garden plot for the year in my backyard today. Wish I had put the chains on the 782...was like trying to plow a concrete slab. Hope I can get this soil straightened out in the next 2 months...

Did all the 1x5 and 1x4 series come with the white fiberglass seat? I just aquired a 1968 105 and it has the seat that looks like the one from a 1x7-1x6
 
3-4" of snow here this AM and temps in the low 20's and the weather guesser says it will struggle to get above freezing for the next few days. So much for spring fever!

The 1450 w/power angle made quick work of a couple drives and the 1 block dead end street here that then city always forgets about.

The 1450 is a joy to move snow with and has got to be the smoothest and quietest machine I have next to the 882. Sure nice to have a nice dry floor now under the blade wan parted. Fixing the cylinder was not cheap, but well worth it.

Lucas, yes, all of the 1x4/5 series came with the upholstered white fiberglass seat. Except for the 72, it had the metal pan seat.
 
I think my S/G on my Original is in need of brushes- voltmeter jumps around erratically. Looked in all my manuals chassis, engine, IH Electrical.. don't see a rebuild section.

Is there a manual for that operation?

Anyone want to volunteer a source for parts?

Charlie, Frank and Lew - geez, I thought I checked these pages couple times yesterday and didn't see your posts directed to me. Looks like more to add to Art's list. As I said before, they ain't making any more. Lets find'm and keep'm going.
