    682 PTO

Haven’t posted in this forum for years because everything was running fine, until now. I have a 682 with an M18 Kohler and it makes a terrible screeching noice when I start it up, I assume it’s the PTO. I know nothing about pto’s. Do you all think that’s what it is? Is it serviceable? Can I get...

    My New Toy

I'll have to put my tractors on the back burner for now, at least until the newness wears off. This was definitely on my bucket list, wanted one since I was 15 years old! It's a 1959 Corvette.

    My 1450 Refurb Project-Part 3

PO drilled several holes in the fender assy and tunnel cover which had to be welded up & ground smooth. Painted with rattle cans in the correct IH colors and added new decals. Installed new tires and seat. Finished it today after working on it almost constantly for a year & a half.

    My 1450 Refurb Project-Part 2

Pulled the engine and tore it apart. Bore was good, had to get new piston. Did a complete rebuild replacing parts as needed. Did the cradle modification. Cleaned up and painted the frame, replaced tie rod ends, replaced the cork gsket on the hydro, sanded & painted the wheels.

    My 1450 Refurb Project-Part 1

I purchased this 1450 from my neighbor for $250 back in 2011. Really rough, not running.

Might be a stupid question, but... Is the sleeve hitch adapter the same for a wide frame as a narrow?

    Parts Washer

Thinking about getting a parts washer. Looked at TSC, Northern Tool, Ebay, etc. Flow runs anywhere from .36 gpm to 4 gpm. I don't know which is better, a faster or slower flow. Does anyone have any recommendations as to size, brand, flow, etc.? Any recommendations on what fluid to use?

    Two Wheel Cart

Does anyone have plans or know where I can get plans for a two wheel riding cart that can be pulled behind a garden tractor? I would like to build one for my two year old granddaughter.

I know molded rubber seals are expensive, but $45 for a heat baffle seal seems exhorbant to me. Especially since it’s just a simple “U” shaped bulb seal that could fit a variety of things. I know this may be taking away from the sponsors, but has anyone found a good source for this?

I thought someone did a study on here and determined that good name brand oil like Pennzoil, Valvoline, Quaker State, etc. were all low ash oils. I'm not very good with the search feature.

    Welder

I'm about to buy myself a Christmas present. I bought a Lincoln stick welder a few years ago but found it won't weld thin stuff. Mainly I want to plug 1/4" dia. holes in the sheet metal of my Cub Cadet that previous owners found it necessary to drill. I don't have a clue what I need except...

When I exchanged a unported hydro to a ported one, I repaired the trunion. But the 682 is still real jerky in forward & reverse. Any ideas why?

Chris, I used a pin punch the same diameter as the pin, worked good after several applications of PB. But I'm sure a roll pin punch would work better.

Kraig & Don, As you can see, the holes in item 5 are different sizes. The pins are the same size & large. Also, why is there a hole in the bushing? What is the nut for? How does this @#%& go together? I also have to mount the bar for the 3 point.

Well, in getting ready to convert the 682 to hydraulics, just removed the spring assist, fenders & battery box. Tomorrow I pressure wash it, then start to disassemble the drive shaft and rock shaft.

    Weed Eater

Don't know if this is the correct place but couldn't find another. I have a CC 2025 string trimmer that runs fine but the shaft barely turns. At full throttle, I can grab the shaft with my hand and stop it from turning. Took it apart but couldn't see anything obviously wrong. Could it be the...

Charlie, That price list was interesting. You, or somebody, wouldn't have a list for the 82's back then, would you? Norm

Myron, Yes, those are good tips, especially about the loose clothing. Talk about getting wrapped around the axle! It would be almost essential to have a rigged up kill switch nearby. I know they're dangerous, so I wouldn't pay too much for one. Norm

Thanks Steve, Guess you've convinced me on using the remote. Unfortunately, the bracket on mine has a piece broken where the bolt attaches, looking for a good one. My hoses look okay, though. Where does it mount on the firewall? Norm
