I’ve a newly acquired model 70 that doesn’t let the dipstick stay seated - it keeps puffing it up. I removed the breather and it appears to be correctly installed to these untrained eyes.

Assuming it is correctly installed, what else might I be facing?

If that doesn't fix it, the O-ring near the top of the dipstick may be bad, or the engine is worn out and has so much blowby that nothing is going to hold it in there.
