Don, sorry to hear about your computer.

Best Buy does not do any sort of recovery as their legal department is concerned about recovering and/or discovering any sort of illegal files such as child porn which would stop their service department dead in it's tracks as it would become a crime scene. The company I work for makes computer forensics tools for law enforcement for copying and investigating hard drives. Keeping hard drives cool is very important as over heating is one of the quickest ways to destroy a hard drive. Keep your cooling vents clear and clean so that your PC will run cooler will go a long way towards extending it's life. Also as several have already stated backup your files often. I have my files backed up on several different hard drives. Though most people can not do this, I keep a backup of my personal files here at at work and I backup some of my work files on hard drives I keep at home so I have "off-site" backups for both sets of data. PSA over.

Joel,

that is a nasty looking fuel tank! Good to see you are wearing proper protective gloves. Nytrile gloves are your friend when dealing with a mess like that.

No child porn here. I like them much older , some thing I can keep up with lol. My brother runs XP home and I will try my HD in his confuser as a slave in hopes of getting some Cub cadet pictures and files back. My whole 1512 D and 129 loader build is gone unless this works out . funny I got my house confuser back up with an I book 1 tb . My shop confuser has wifi and I hope to back up everything this week.

Well getting old has saved my butt . all the pictures I took since 2005 are on the compact flash cards and as they filled up I just bought new ones. The wife just set me straight

Wow! That gas tank is nasty. Can't wait to see it all cleaned up. I like to rotisserie idea. I'm going to keep an eye out for one this garage sale season.
Also, thanks for the article on electrolysis. I have been meaning to look in to that. I have a lot of parts that could use that treatment.

O/T, I have an external drive that gets backed up to automatically every night. I also use Mozy.com for offsite back up. Last time I looked, I had over 28Gigs/25,000 files backed up there. Most of them a precious pictures. This was all put in place in 2010 when I too had a HD failure and lost a ton. I pay like $80/yr for Mozy. That's waaaay less then a recovery fee. You know what they say, an ounce of prevention. Email me if you want any info on the service.

Back on Topic, my neighbor mowed his grass yesterday. I couldn't decide if I was happy for that season to start, or if I was stressed, cause I wasn't quite ready for that season to start.

I have seen guys put pea gravel in with water and put in a 5 gallon pail with styrafoam aroun the tand and then put in a paint shaker.

You can also tie the tank to wheel with something inside to break apart the junk. Then drive the machine around to clean the tank. Works for any size tank, from big to small.

When we cleaned up a tank for our Farmall H we attached it to plywood and then attached that to the rim of our Allis G.
Filled it with a mix of pea gravel, sand, and water.
Just put the Allis on jack stands and let it run for 1/2 day.

Could use a Cub the same way, it would make for good pics!

Ok tks to all for the great ideas, I got it soaking in diesel now and I really like the wheel idea just because it's something I have access to. I put marbles inside but that might not be as good as screws or pea gravel

The calendar said March 20. We'll go directly from snowsledding to boating this year.

Saturday was a nice day; Fernando moved 50 miles south to a place with 4 boys and a heated shop to live in.

It's more of a "Vaya Con Dios". They have a pretty bad off 109 that I kind of suggested they keep and I'd try to help them get it going. It was fun watching the oldest 3 boys take turns from oldest to youngest running the 149 around their big driveway after a brief -- briefing. They'd been snow plowing with a 382 and I'm betting that that snowplow is now attached to the 149. The herd here didn't shrink, though. A 100 with (I think) a #2 cart came back with me.
