Marty-

I've heard of it being used a lot to help the hydraulic system. They're also used to assist electric lifts.

.

Thanks Kraig - both here and over in the sandbox.

Those "Spirit of 76" cadets sure are neat!

David S. is sharing pics via email today.

Thanks Charlie!!
This was before the the parade. But I only had drivers for 3 of them plus the car.
Great time non the less.
Loading now for the upcoming show in Portage, WI. and then Macon, MO the end of the month which will be the MO chapter IHCC summer show.

Happy 4th everyone!!

Kraig M. Nice looking Spirit of 76.

David S. One very sweet collection that you have.

With Iowa's new law allowing fireworks we had a couple of neighbors must have been trying to outdo each other. The only thing they succeeded in doing is driving a mother cat and her three kittens away. They had been living in the garage and we were trying to tame them enough to help them find forever homes. Hopefully they will come back. They were smart kitties by moving into the Filled with Cub Cadet stuff garage.

David S., wow, nice collection!

Marlin, thanks. Hope the kitties come back.

Kirk, thanks, yes they are neat. It's a shame that a PO put a different model replacement engine in it that required the hood be cut for it to fit.

Other than that it's in pretty decent condition.

David S. That's quite a stable of tractors you have there...I have cub envy

Since there's nothing else going on today.
WTH is this thing?
It's 5 13/16" long, 5/8" on the small end and 1 1/4" on the splined side W/12 teeth.

Charlie, I have no idea. At first I thought it might be from a 450 or 451 snow blower but I couldn't find a matching part in the exploded views.

Ron Schmitt, sent me some scans from an old (1960's) IH publication called "International Harvester Farm Magazine" I'll be posting bits and pieces from it now and then. Here's the first little bit.

Charlie, could it be the reduction input shaft for an Original?

Or a part for a hydrostatic pump?

Charlie,

My guess is the motor output shaft from a Hydro unit.

Hope everyone enjoys the little mail box snip-its Kraig will be posting of the innovative uses Cub Cadet owners were finding for their Cub Cadets back in 1964. Just an early indication of the legendary legacy that Cub Cadet's would have well into the future.

Got to love the picture of Mrs. Gibbs on her Original with the Snowco Umbrella while blading her driveway.

More from Ron's scans.

This first one seems familiar. The photo on the left of the Cub Cadet in action may have been posted years ago. I'll have to do some digging in my archives...

Charlie,

Back to the photo of the Original with the Danco loader. I believe where I saw this photo, or a similar photo, before was in Ken Updike's book on Cub Cadets. I'll have a look when I get home this evening.
