Donald:

When ever I need something for a Cub I post an add in the wanted section in the buying and selling section of this forum. I always get a response. Or, try contacting the vendors that post adds above the forum page.

Brandon K , you can also upgrade to the newer style axle that makes it easy to steer . also called the super steer axle . Thye will have the 1" spindles . I was gonna email ya but your email isn`t in your profile . email me if you need one . Thanks ,Rich

Catching up from a few days ago. There was a discussion about putting a 14hp into a narrow frame made for a 12. I was looking at that a year or two ago and received these photos from Kraig:

The 100 I recently acquired has a mechanical PTO attached, but no lever to engage/ disengage it. At this time I don't plan on any attachments that would require a PTO. Would it be better to remove the PTO and put it on the shelf for later, or leave it on and forget about it? Any negative effects from leaving it on?

TIA,
Keith

Thanks. Sorry didn't know that. How about the correct adjustment on the PTO Clutch and turnbuckle? Thanks Pete

Pete H., that FAQ link addresses that, scroll down to the last page, just above the photo of the triangle springs. It should be Page 2-73, read paragraph 7 on that page.

Keith, it has been stated here by others (I forget who it was) that it is best if you are not using the PTO and have no attachments hooked to it, to have the PTO engaged. With no PTO lever the PTO will always be engaged sooooooo, you should be OK to leave it as is.

Kraig, I'd read that in the manuals before to reduce wear on the PTO to leave it engaged if no attachments were on, but I wasn't sure if there was a negative effect as far as additional rotational mass. (that sounds like a smart person talking... i are not smrt) Or would the additional mass be benefitial?

Keith, hmmmmmmm,

that extra mass could be beneficial.... Read the posts from last night from Terry B and me.

I assume you are referring to the flywheel size between the 10/12hp vs. 14hp?

Your comments please om my 109 S/G.

Since I got the tractor from my Dad, the amp gauge is very erratic. Fluctuating rapidly from hi charge back to zero. I wasn't overly concerned with this as it keeps the battery charged(at least it has)

Saturday I was out cleaning up some snow, maybe an hour, but no more, and noticed the S/G was literally smoking hot from the rear plate. Mine has the bushing rather than ball bearing. I had forgotten it needs occasional oiling, but I did so then. The whole body was too hot to touch.

The next day after changing hydro fluid, I took it out to test and noticed it wasn't charging. Further inspection revealed the belt was really loose. I tightened it and restarted and it was charging again, tho fluctuating as previous.

My blade is raised and lowered with an ATV winch. While used often, it is short periods, and should be relatively low power draw.

Should it fluctuate that much?? Could that be why it overheated?? or maybe just the loose belt??

Any pointers appreciated.
