It doesn't hurt to prime them at the check valves....can only help eliminate start up wear.......

After it shows signs of forward/reverse movement, run the hyd. lift stop to stop 4 or 5 times to purge any air out.

Do all of this at low to moderate RPM until everything is working correctly, then repeat at higher RPM.

Thanks Steve-

I think I first heard about priming at the check valves from ole Don Tanner a few years back. It makes sense to me. Thanks again for the quick reply.

Charlie-

I thought about that until I noticed the little hole in the middle. You got any other guesses???
Again, thanks for them anyway.

Someday, maybe, I'll learn not to have to say this. Until then . . .

Jason-

That 1250 looks like it could be fixed to live another day. I know it looks rough now but that's what refurbishing/restoring is all about. All of the necessary parts can be found rather easily including the engine. Did you get it just for the axle tube and axle? The 3 pt hitch (not the sleeve hitch, this is where the sleeve hitch attaches) looks complete. It would be a shame to let a ported pump sit and not be used too. What ever you don't use ought to be somewhat protected now that it's in the hands of a cub enthusiast. You can also find another axle tube/axle to fix your boo boo. They're out there.

I'm getting ready to replace the pump gasket on my 1250. It also has hydraulic lift on it that I installed a couple of years ago. I am a 1x9 man myself when it comes to preference but the QLs are nice tractors as well...just a little different animal. Heck, you could find a K341AQS and have a 1650 less the decals (which are also out there). It looks to be all there.

All I'm saying, IMHO, is the 1250 looks too good and complete to part out but that's your business so I'll shut up now.

.

Jason - you're not being nice making all of us wait to find out what happened to your axle.

Also, in my opinion you STOLE that 1250. It's got a hydraulic lift and lights besides the rear 3pt hitch. Gol-dang-it.

Also, I really agree with Wayne. Find another axle carrier or rearend for your 149. That 1250 needs to be put back in service.

I finally finished refurbing the 44A deck I've been working on for my grandson's 1250. I gave it a quick test-run tonight on my 1450 and I'm really happy with the results! It's hard to see it in the photo, but it's a really nice even cut.

Thanks to everyone here who provided answers & advice. And to Dave Schwandt for the belt cover - you can see a little of it in the photo and it looks great. And, of course, thanks to Charlie & CC Specialties for all the parts (and extra freebies with each order).

Don't judge the appearance of the old 1450 too harshly - she's running better than ever with the new carb parts. You can see in the photo that I had previously given up on the mule drive and converted it to a front suitcase weight hanger. Now I've restored the mule drive, but decided to leave the weight bracket on, with a little IH bling!

Thanks again everyone - I wouldn't have even started the project without this forum at my disposal.

Oh, I almost forgot - I finally found a fuel line shut-off valve for my 1450, that I can access without removing the side panel. I know it shouldn't be necessary now that I've replaced the float needle valve and seat, but I'm much more paranoid than I am confident in my mechanical abilities, soooo...

Greg - great looking job you did on the deck from what I can see, and looks like it cuts nice. Give us some more details on that fuel shut off you added. I can't see in your pic how it operates. With the poor gasoline around these days I like shutting off the gas and letting the carb run dry, if I'm gonna leave the tractor sit for any period of time longer than a couple weeks.

Jason - well we're still waiting for the details on what the H happened to your 149 rear axle carrier.
Paybacks (not replying to posting) can be H too.
