Todd - Get yourself a HYDRO and you'll be educated.
Since different equipment / terrain / conditions call for different ground speeds AND your Kohler is suppose to be ran @ 3600 rpm (to properly cool) you'll quickly see the light.

Nah, They never wear out clutch disk for one reason.
They never stay in gear long enough to wear'um out.
