Well it was 55 degrees here in Minnesota today so I took the 100 out and ran the haban sickle for the colorist time since I got it. Shook more than I expected for s balanced head mower.
Pulled the dipstick on the Mag 20 yesterday - clean! and stinking of gas! DAMN!
So besides dumping the oil and leaving the plug out to let it dry out, and replacing the fuel pump - what else do I need to do? Do I have to flush the engine out at all? I am guessing run it when it does get fixed and then change the oil again after an hour or so??
Will the gas have done damage elsewhere? Do I have to change seals or something? NOT looking forward to this job.
Change the oil and filter, and then just run it for awhile. Any gas left in the crankcase will turn into vapor and go out through the crankcase breather and be consumed by the engine as it warms up.
Question, would a 100 lb. slab of steel fastened under the rear end of a 124 have the same effect as a 50 lb. wheel weight on each rear wheel? I've got the steel & know how to mount it. I don't have any wheel weights. Thanks for the input.
David Q.
Wheel weights are always better, but hanging 100+ pounds on the back works just as well, but it does wear and add more stress to axle bearings.
That's refreshing news Matt G. Thank you! Lets hope it doesn't take long to get the parts in when I order them. Forecast is warm weather for next week, would be nice to fix then instead of when the temps drop down below zero again!
It hit 11 degrees here today for about 1/2 hour before the clouds moved in. What a teaser in the way of Spring!
