I am currently working on my 1950 IH M. The carb is in need of some work and i'm attempting to find a carb repair kit for it. The number on the carb is 50983DC. But most kits that I find are for 50983DB. It there a difference or are they interchangeable? Thanks

Mary: You might want to post in the "IH Cub Cadet's Larger Relatives" section.

Just sayin . . .

MARY - Back in those days IHC did a really good job of making parts backward compatable. If the part number, 50983, stays the same and the suffix changes, the "DC" on your carb, or "DB" for the service kit I would say the kit would work for either carb.

I don't have a parts book for the M so I can't say if there's any "Special Instructions" for the carb rebuild kits. I will say that from what I've heard on other forums, the kit available from your local Case/IH/NH dealer is more expensive but includes many more parts than the aftermarket kits you can buy. People generally have better luck with the IH kits than the aftermarket kits.

When you reinstall the carb, follow the instructions in the operator's manual or service manual for installing & adjusting the governor closely. That's the part most people have problems with. It has to be assembled & adjusted right or it won't work properly.
