Correct Location for Grote taillight on Cub Cadet Original?

Adding the Grote taillight to my 1961 Original, and trying to confirm the correct mounting location if anyone has photos. I've seen a few mounted to the inside of the left rear fender, but the manual drawing says to mount it to the left rear bolt on the seat spring.

If you have fenders this is how it is to be mounted:

The installation instructions don't mention the fenders, which I believe were introduced after the lights were.

I have seen some that were mounted into drilled mounting holes in the left fender.

Thank you Kraig. This is very helpful. I'll plan to use the first option so I don't have to drill any holes in the fender.
