Charlie - I was talking about replacing the auger flighting which I can buy that cheap. But theirs two flightings on each side which I think that what you mean by a 2 to 4 paddles? I got a side where I can buy a new auger flighting. Just wanting to know what a 2 paddle auger and 4 paddle and whats the the difference?
Austin, the augers use 4 different flights, two on each side. The 2 paddle augers have one flight from each side to one paddle, the paddles are spaced 180* apart. The 4 paddle augers have each flight going to its own paddle, the paddles are spaced 90* apart.
Kraig - So I'm guessing I have a 2 paddle auger. Would mine auger be rewelded into a 4 paddle? Do you got a thread with a bunch 4 paddle auger close ups?
If you cut all old flighting off, start with a bare tube, add the 4 paddles, all new flighting and re-weld everything, yea it would work.
Convert a 2 paddle into a 4? Not gonna happen unless you do all of the above.
Steve - To be honest I do not think anyone would want to part with a nice auger off one of their snowthrower, But I do think it would be cheaper to buy the flighting than just finding and buying a auger.
"But I do think it would be cheaper to buy the flighting than just finding and buying a auger."
Yeah, if your time is worth absolutely nothing to you. You will spend a LOT of time cutting off the old flighting and fitting and welding in the new one (if you can find one). I have never in ~13 years of being a member of this forum seen flighting for sale. To my knowledge, it was never sold separately by IH.
