Bill J, I found your thoughts and opinions about the subject useful. I was heavily in favor {still am} of the International Cub Cadet direct drive system being at the advantage over a garden tractor drive belt system. I had an ol' off-topic belt drive SS-12 that was quite a champ. But, I'm very glad to have had graduated up to an International Cub Cadet.
Steve made a comment about corn binders being belt drive. Clearly, the belt has a proper place, and I think about that when I look under the hood of my '10 Ford Fusion Sport,....just one belt,= more hp., so I'm told! But, I doubt we'll ever see any belt drive stock cars, or the super sport motorbikes, or the king of garden tractor pulling,.... the International Cub Cadet!
I understand there are some impressive IH Cub Cadet pullers that run the belt, and I don't mean to take from those guys, or the belt drive off topic garden tractors. Was only asking about a particular International Cub Cadet drive system.
Well, I enjoy reading more than I do writing, so I'm going to go back to doing that. Thanks!
