I am new to the site and think this is pretty cool. I am back on the pwert duty. The landscapers I hired are hacking up my lawn!! This was originally posted in the wrong string location, please pardon my repeat question...

The question I have to anyone that can add input is about the carb. The machine has the original 12 HP Kohler. After using the tractor for less than 2 hours, the carb flooded with gas and bogged out on me. When i took the the left side panel off and removed the cover that houses the air filter gas poureed out. The first 2 hours I used it, I mistakenly ran 89 octane gasoline. The manual calls for 91 or higher (should have read this first) so i drained the tank and refilled with 93 octane. The motor starts, however it does sound it should at full throttle. It idles fine and runs ok at half speed. The problem is when I go 3/4 to full speed, it bogs out and I can see gasoline dripping out from the carb. Any thoughts on how to address what appears to be a simple solution?

As a follow up to my own questions, I pulled the air filter off, adjusted the hi idle screw, and there was the problem. Carb is back in action. The gas leak on the other hand may be best explained by opening the gas tank valve every so slightly as opposed to all the way open. Now to fix the wheel (bearings repacked) and I'm back on the crew.

You apparently didn't see my post to your question in the other area, so I'll say it again. You should not have a carb leak, regardless of the position of the shutoff valve. The float isn't set right, leaks, or the needle and seat are worn. It's time for a carb kit.

I can not explain the leak....however the gas tank is amost empty because all of the gas leaked onto the garage floor. Not sure if the two are related. Interestingly enough, now that there appears that the leak has subsided, when the throttle is all the way open the engine sounds a little louder than before. Could that be a result of the the float or needles? I am at risk of damaging the engine or perhaps the setting on the hi idle screw were at a different level. Bottom line, it starts and runs at full throttle.
