    Grand slam of supers

I finally completed my Grand slam of Supers. Just picked up a nice 2072 tonight. This completes the my grand slam 1572,1772,1872 and 2072. Like most siblings they are very similar but very different. The 1572 is the worker of the bunch with a rear PTO and 3 pnt. This tractor is a beast ready for...

    Tow hook on Super

For some reason I always thought a Super would look better with a tow hook on the front. So as I was getting ready for plow day I decided to throw one together. I do think it makes the super look better but it also worked very well as I used it to pull a few out at plow day. What do ya think?

    1572,1772 temperature differance

Any ideas why my 1772 runs about 20 degrees cooler (130) than my 1572 (150). I checked the thermostats both are in and working. I used a laser thermometer and checked all around engine, Thermostat housing and radiator and all are about 20 degrees cooler. I also put a thermometer in radiater...

    What would you carry

My 1772 has a tool box on the back. Whith the limited space what would you carry. I am thinking 3/4 wrench for 3pnt, 15/16 wrench for 3pnt plow. Extra hair pins and hitch pins. I would like to carry a hammer but any one that would fit is not really big enough to be of any help. Any ideas on what...

    1772 lift problem

It seems (and I am not sure why or what changed becaused everything was working fine) that my lift lever is now hitting the upper edge of the opening in the dash not allowing the linkage enough travel to push the valve in to move the cylinder. I tried to move the valve up on the steering column...

    Diesel vs gas tractor value

Recently a very very nice 1872 was for sale near me. It was one of the nicest I ever saw. It sold in less than 24hrs for full price $2000. No 3pnt, rear pto or deck just tractor. This got me thinking what would an equally equipped and conditioned 1572 or 1772 be worth. I have been told a diesel...

    1772 coolant

I was topping off the radiator today and did not remember I had stored some hydro fluid in an old antifreeze jug. I poured probably 1/2 to an oz of hydro fluid into the radiator before I realized I had the wrong jug. How big a deal is this?

    Rear PTO Problems

I just replaced the field coil on the rear PTO on my 1572. The coil is working fine my problem now is that when the coil is off the armature continues to spin. When the PTO is off and engine is off the amrmature spins freely but you can hear it rubbing the roto alittle. I think it is warped...

    Steering slop on super

I just picked up another 1872 and I see it has about a 1\4 turn of the wheel before the front axel starts to move. I have read the other threads about steering slop but they were not for tractors with power steering. It seems to me the movement is in the column. any help appreciated.

    1572 gear reduction starter

My 1572 was a bear to start in cold weather. I was going to install a block heater this year but before I could get it done my starter went bad. So I decided to go with the gear reduction starter. WOW what a differance. 40 sec. on the glow plug and one crank and it running. I went out at 4:30...
