Don T., I wish I did. Getting off and on the tractor to switch the angle is a bit of a pain but the "fun" of plowing in weather like this trumps the downside. With all the snow we've had last year and this year, I have it down to changing the angle only twice to clear the whole driveway.

This was round 1 on Wednesday in southeast PA. 20 more inches fell later that night...

Well, got that oil drain plug out fairly easy in the end. Don T - after spraying PB Blaster on it a few times over 2 days, I tried the 10" vise grips 1st - no dice. I only had an 18" pipe wrench but I gave it a shot but couldn't really get a good bite so I gave it a gentle whack upwards on the...

Thanks Guys. I was figuring and hoping vise grips might be my easiest "fix" and I will weld a nut to the plug when I get it out as you suggested. Snow is coming and I wanted to change the oil before snow plow season starts in SE PA.

Does anyone have any tips or special tool to use on removing a worn oil drain plug on my IH 582? It is pretty well rounded so that I can't get a good grip with any sockets or wrenches.

Hey Guys, I need to tap into your mechanical knowledge here and expose my lack of...my 1650 died in the field after backfiring quite a bit. I put a new condenser, coil and points in and she started right away. I didn't do any timing yet as I found it difficult to see the points gap open and turn...

Jeff, I have a gear driven IH 582 - not a Special. I use a 10" plow for my garden in 1st gear at full throttle w no problems. I follow that up with a disc harrow. With that said, I would think it would be too fast for the rototiller assuming you need to work it at full throttle.

Bill, Ron and Richard - thanks for taking the time with those suggestions. This 1650 is 150 miles away from me so I'm taking a day off next week so I can look at it real good...I did find Richard's article in the FAQs... I'll let you know how I make out.

Kraig and Matt - thank you very much. That's real encouraging. I know some guys have welded supports accross the frame but I couldn't see that being the only answer since the engine and frame weren't vibrating. Your explanation makes sense.

I've been a member for awhile but only posted a couple of times as I don't know diddly so I shutup and learn from you Guys...I need your diagnosis on this opportunity if you could help me: I saw a 1650 at a small engine repair shop so I stopped and asked about it. The guy said he just put new...

Kraig - that's a start. Thanks for taking the time to help. It's for my 100 and I wanted to stay as close to the original as possible.
