White smoke usually is a sign of burning oil.
This can be caused by to much oil, wrong types, or if the engine is at an angle.

What model of tractor are we talking about here? Very few models were liquid cooled, so likely not coolant...
Whitish-gray smoke on an air cooled engine is unburned fuel, i.e. mixture is too rich.
Oil smoke has a bluish cast to it and a very distinct smell.
