My neighbor called this am and said his Troybilt lawn tractor wouldn't run. It's brand new; he purchased it in April of this year. I didn't want to tackle taking the carb off but did and found it clean. It's a Kohler Courage 20 and is 597cc with full pressure lube. The tractor is a Troybilt Bronco. Long story short it will crank with a shot of carb cleaner and CONTINUE to run. Once it's shut off it will not crank. It has good fuel flow, good spark and I assume good compression since it's brand new. I checked the oil and found it low but after topping it off it still did the same. I also checked for any obvious safety switch problems but found nothing abnormal as far as I could see.

Any ideas? Any and all will be appreciated.

Hey, Wayne, I'm a bit confused (nothing new). When you say it will crank with a shot of carb cleaner do you mean it will START with a shot of carb cleaner and once it's shut off it will not START? Geographical terminology discrepency?
Oh, P.S. Warrantee? Don't make me come down there, I may decide to stay!!

Frank-

Yes. It will always crank and run fine and continue running. This is what baffles me. Usually, when this occurs the engine quits when the carb empties. This tractor (for lack of better words) keeps running and when shut off will not crank without another "shot".

I also told him about it probably being under warranty. There was an 8oo number on the rear which he plans to call. I'm posting this to see if someone else by chance has ever had a problem like this. I know I never have.

Thanks

VAPOR LOCK

NOUN:

A pocket of vaporized gasoline in the fuel line of an internal-combustion engine that obstructs the normal flow of fuel.

Ya know, pretty much because of this forum I've learned to post pics, copy and paste, and even a little about Cub Cadets! I was helped (probably by Kraig) on my first pic (he lightened it) and he might also be the one that answered my question about how to work one of these machines more that work on it (fix it right the first time).
