Hey guys,

I have a full roller chassis of a CCC that I plan to pull with. Problem is I don't know what model it is. I basically looks like a yellow and white 582 with the IH style aluminum rearend.
It had a twin cylinder engine from what I can tell. Any idea what model it could be? The PO said it was a 4 digit model number. I brought it home with a hood from a 682 hydro because the original was pretty tore up so i can't go by the hood #.

Is there a place I can cross reference the numbers on the ID tag? (I don't have them right now, it's parked 30 minutes away.)

Thanks guys!

Nic,

A picture is worth 1,000 words in this case.

I didn't understand your dilemma until I checked Parts Lookup, where no fewer than fourteen (14) different models with 4-digit numbers are listed; each configured with two cylinder motors (not counting serial number variants, or ones that I may have overlooked, see listing below).

If the motor has not been changed, most of them were configured with Kohler motors, either a KT17 or an M18; models 1641, 1863, and 1864 models all used a motor with a V-Twin configuration.

This leaves only Model 1604 which came with a 16 HP Briggs & Statton (like a 582) as a possible candidate. Does your motor look like the B&S depicted below?

The one I own looks like this:

(Note the flywheel is not installed

, by the way, the parts of this motor still usable are for sale.)

Of the Models I checked those with Kohler Opposed Twin included:
Model 1535
Model 1541
Model 1710
Model 1711
Model 1806
Model 1810
Model 1811
Model 1860
Model 1861
Model 1862

Other engine/model combinations mentioned above.

Hope this helps.

Edit: Oops, I forgot you don't have the motor. Oh well.

If it has a B&S engine, it's a 1606 (or 582 if the PO was wrong about the model number). If it has a Kohler twin, it's an 1806.

Hey guys, thanks for the quick replies!

Using all that info, I don't recall this chassis showing any signs of having the Kohler remote oil filter that the magnums have, (holes in the firewall, hose rub on the side panel, oil all over both of those...) So that would put a Briggs in it, making it a 1606. And now that i have a few memory joggers, I swear the PO said it was a 16..something blah blah blah.. I should learn to listen better.

I'll verify the ID #'s with the parts look up when I get them.

Thanks again guys!

Nic,

Matt's posting reminded me that Parts Lookup often lists more than one model number for a single entry. Below is a listing copied directly from the Parts Lookup site, but edited to show only those models which I found having twin engines in them. I did not include single cylinder motors or diesel engined models in the list, and the ID Tag information is included for reference.

Again, I hope this helps.

Mystery solved!

I was right that there is no remote oil filter set up. The transfer marks that I thought were from the adapter plates for...wait for it... A single!

Model #149-605-100 s/n 791170 mfg 5/1997

Making a model 1050! Thanks for all the info, the parts lookup pulls through again.

I thought at first that I may have wrote the numbers wrong, 605 instead of 650. But I double checked when I wrote it.

Now I just need to find replacement decals and those silly adapters. (I plan to pull with an 8hp k181.)
