Correct frame color for yellow 782

In my tractors previous life, someone painted it. Now the yellow on the rear end and front axle is peeling off and showing a black layer underneath. is black correct? I believe my machine to be early in the switch over, so I wasn't sure if maybe they just painted over the red 782 parts for assembly.

Throughout the CCC-built 82 series, all the rears, front axles, and dash towers were supposed to be black. Only the earliest ones had red or yellow parts in those places. I know of one 782 that was painted yellow over red, but that still had an IH serial tag if I remember right.

So in other words, black is correct.

You can make a pretty good guess what color your rear and front axles should be by looking at your serial number. I'd bet they should be black. I've never heard of a 782 having yellow front axle and yellow rear end from the factory even during the transition. The PO probably did that.
