Ok got my wiring harness sorted. Ignition now. Is there an upgraded coil and points for my 71 that has a k241 in it. Or is there an option to go with an electronic setup. ? I’ve seen some coil looking coils on some of these. Thanks

Kirk Engines for both.

The points/condenser is easy-just stick with the stuff it was born with. The Kohler parts work well, and if you set the point gap to spec, there is a good probability that the ignition timing will be spot on.

Kohler coils are very expensive, but like most of their parts they are the best available.

Our sponsors have the correct coil? Cost really isn’t an issue, what is to me important is performance I may be staying points and condenser still. Kirk doesn’t have them anymore. Didn’t see any coils on his sight either

The part numbers are/were KH-41-519-21-S, KH-231281, KH-231281-S

I found several of these NOS OEM Kohler coils on various sites.

I like the Bosche blues - bought 3 of them for my 1450, 1650 and 100...
I also recommend the Transdenser II from Kirk - I got them for mine as well.

If you get one, just be sure you hook it up correctly and double check it before you turn the ignition key, or "poof" (actually "puff" as in "lil cloud of smoke" puff) it'll be gone like a fart in the wind - ask me how I know. 🤪

Not knocking other sponsors, but you can get all the quality stuff you need from CCSpecialties. ("Charlie", "Digger", not sure about any other names. :errrr:)
Not to mention you will get it PDQ!

Any of those numbers are correct for a single cylinder K series Kohler. Those are all of the part numbers over the course of several years.
