Kraig, I got to studying the parts book and I suspect it may have something to do with the addition at a later time of an electric lift and guard assy??
Just a WAG I suppose.
Also, did the hyd lift for the NF's also have a guard assly??

I get emails like this almost on a daily bases,

I just received my order and have a question. I don’t see any order number on the invoice but it is dated Feb. 9th.

All the items on the order were received – thank you. However there were two of an item that I do not know what it is. They are red and plastic with an about 2” square opening on one end, funneling down to about a 3/4” round opening on the other. The square end has some sort of plastic arms up like a clip. What are these to be used for and why were they in the order? Thank you.

For anyone working on a 126 restore or contemplating doing so...

Got the clutch and drive shaft hung in the 126 and while adjusting the clutch I noticed quite a bit of movement, in and out, where the hanger is bolted to the bottom side of the tower. Got to thinking, this has got to be a weak spot that could use some reinforcement of some kind.

So, I checked a 124 dash tower I had picked up earlier and lo and behold the that tower has a much heavier lower section that incorporates angle iron of sorts. (see picture)

No problem, I bent up an angle from 10 Ga and added it to the non angled 126 tower. A little primer and some yeller and it's off to the races!
Here's the original 126 tower

the 124 tower...

And my mod bolted in, trial fit...
I only wish I had noticed this prior to painting the tower. I could have spot welded it in place.

Lewis, except the electric lift wasn't available for the 123, yet it was the first model to have the one 1" bolt and three 3/4" bolts...

David S - you just pointed out one of the issues I have with the gear drive NF units. If it's not to late I suggest you fab up something even a little better. You figured out there is quite a lot of pressure on that yoke hanger when clutching. The steel plate behind it helps but the pressure carries to the corners of the tower and many times the steel cracks right on the corners. I've added a small piece of angle iron a few times using the existing bolt on one side and drilling a new hole on the front side. But I never really liked having it exposed and appearing as a fix. something on the inside would be a lot nicer.

Charlie - HEY, I think I sent you one of those e-mails, but I wasn't quite as nice as what you posted. I think I said something like "what the h--- are these red things with 2 prongs"

No thanks but thanks for the offer,David
Kraig,I am in the shop today, took the rr bolt out of my 123 and it is 3/4" long, must be a boo boo in the book.

Lewis, I was going by the online Parts Lookup. Could be it was changed during the 1x6/7 series and back edited for prior models.

This weekend I may have to remove a bolt from one or more of my 1x5 series Cubs in the name of research.

So one of my customers sent me pics of his tractor that belonged to his dad, that's he's redoing.

Seems his dad made an exact replica of the deck out of stainless steel many years ago.

Is the lift rod for the original snow plow and snow thrower interchangable? Also is the pulley on the motor different size to run the bb-36?
