Hmm....I think my # is covered by the pulley assembly on the back. I saw I was missing a number in what was recorded in the book, it bing 2050045U407579 (I was missing the 4 after the U)

The blue guy is actually a New Holland (it says model S12), one I will likely give to my father-in-law.

Luke K-

The pto isn't hard at all to rebuild. There are several write-ups on this procedure and a kit will cost around $60. The kit includes a new disc too so that will be a thing of the past. While you have the pto apart it's a good idea to resurface both pressure plates. I use a benchtop belt sander myself but most any machine shop would do it for a few bucks. I think it's necessary in order to have things back as close to new as possible. I also run a 1/4-20 tap all the way through the set screw holes to clean them up. Now would be a good time to clean and paint it as well. I even paint the new springs because that spring steel will start rusting in just a few days. Make sure you get the correct kit too. There are two types for the mechanical pto. Now is probably a good time to order and install a new spring button; they aren't included in the kit. Any other worn parts are available from the sponsors above and will help insure a lasting job if you replace them now. One last thing, if the pto bearing has any play or "feel" when turned by hand it should be replaced as well with a new locking collar.

Hope this helps.....Wayne

Scott Mackay,

Welcome!! The rear mounted tiller on your 128 is a Model 1A. It has one 9" tine extension of the right side. The long drive belt you need is #IH-549250-R1. They are available from your local Cub Cadet dealer or you can contact one of the CC forum sponsors via the colorful boxes at the top of the page. The belt is a little pricy but it is a special belt which is narrower than a standard 1/2" wide belt and stronger to take the horsepower to operate your tiller and will last many years with proper maintenance. Nice looking 128. With proper maintenance, it will give you many more years of dependable service and you will soon appreciate how well IH Cubbies are built/designed.

Anyone have or know of someone whos got one of those mechanical pto set gauges? I dont want to pay $60 just for that gauge. I would prefer to buy one from someone so i can use it down the road but if not thats fine. I have a couple ptos that I want to reste right now si i thought id just ask.

I`am on clean up today , but I have to show what the Wife scored when they closed out the town post office for new diggs this week. The building (red stone) built 1909. I hate to see it go to disrepair.
