Correction: Roland won't let me get away with bad info - so: I said that IH did not use the 784 designator on the red IH machines. That is true for the 80 & 81 IH made ones. But, beginning in 1982 red IH 782 tractors that had the optional front hydraulics <u>did</u> use the CCC system.

CCC made red IH 782's with front hydraulics:
1982: 142-784-399
1983: 143-784-399
1984: 144-784-399
1985: 145-784-399

CCC 782's with Front Hydraulics:
1982: 142-784-100
1983: 143-784-100
1984: 144-784-100
1985: 145-784-100

The above Factory Numbers are found on the ID tag.

Having the information and trying to remember it all sometimes gets you in trouble...Roland's tractor is a 145-784-399 as certain proof...It is also corroborated by official CCC documents which I didn't check before posting. Thanks Roland for keeping us all straight..

Myron: You are correct.

On the tag of my 1712 is "MODEL 145784100"

Wild Bill: Till now, I have believed that CCC changed to the 4-digit model numbers only after IH disappeared. However your 1712 and Roland's red 782 (with front hydraulics) both have that 145-784-xxx factory number. The last three digits: 100 = made for Cub Cadet dealers & 399 = made for IH dealers. It is now apparent that CCC changed to those 4-digit model numbers for 1985 and unrelated to the loss of the IH dealers. They did, obviously, continue to provide the red 82 series models to IH till the very end of IH.
Thanks, Myron
