    1440 Smokes on Starting

    My 1440 smokes a lot(white smoke) when I first start it. After that, it runs and performs pretty well. The motor has about 500 hours on it and was not maintained well before I got it. Any ideas on something simple. I don't think it is worth rebuilding as it has other problems too.

    I have a 169 that I obtained about 2 years ago. I have fixed the PTO,drive shaft and a few other things so that now it runs perfectly. The balance gears do worry me. I want to take them out at some point. Do they give a warning before they go? Thanks.

    Governor adjustment on 1862

    Does anyone know how to adjust the governor on an 1862? Or have the reference material? I am having a problem with the engine slowing down on its own and I think it is the governor. Thanks.

    1440 PTO and Belt

    I am still working on the electric clutch on a 1440. I found a used clutch that works great, but it has a 4 1/2" pulley instead of the 6" on the old one. So the belt doesn't fit. Does anyone know the correct belt or how I can find one. Many thanks.

    1440 Charging and PTO problem

    I am working on a 1440 for a friend. The discharge light stays on when the electric PTO is engaged. After a time the PTO wil not engage at all. He has a new battery. All of my experience is with the 1X8 and 1X9 series. Any ideas?? Thanks

    1440

    I have a friend who has a 1440. I am very familiar with the 125, 129, and 149 but know very little about the 1440. He has a problem with play in the steering wheel. Does the steering sector come out of the 1440 like the 149 or is there room under it to make an adjustment? Thanks
