I'm in the process of restoring my 1650 and was wandering how bad do they vibrate normally? Mine tries to shake the fenders off in all RPM ranges except idle and wide open. The motor was rebuilt by the former owner and when I pulled it apart the head gasket was leaking, but other then that it...

Hi, can anyone tell me if John Deere Hy-Guard will work in my 1650 trans? My Cub Cadet Dealer said he thinks they are both the same specs but since neither one has any info. on the bottle I can't be sure. Any help would be appreciated, Chris.

Thanks for the float pin dimensions. I fab'd it today out of some flat and round stock. It's not exactly the same as factory - but its doing the job. It baffles me why the dimensions of such a simple factory part are such a closely guarded secret.

Rich, thanks for postings the picture of the float lock out pin - any chance you could measure the hole centre to pin center and pin legths for me? By the time I order one from the sponsor and have it shipped to Canada and pay the shipping and duty etc it will liely cost me $75; much...

Two 149 questions ... 1. Anyone ever had the spring-pin in the right lift arm attached to the rockshaft break? I'm having an unpleasant time getting it out - not much room to work down in there. 2. Can anyone post a drawing/photo/sketch of the float lockout pin with dimensions - I need to...

Nate: Can you still steer with 400+ lbs in that loader?

Hello all. Questions about using a blade on a 149. What length is the lift bar supposed to be? I have one that's 32.25" and its too long to even get it mounted. If I use the 27" off the snow thrower then I can't get the blade to go low enough. When the float pin is moved to the lock...

Kraig: thanks for the loader pics. What's everyone's opinion on the loaders...am I better to look for one of the these third party loaders and adpater it to my cub (if so which one works best; can they still be found?) or am I better to build my own (say from Nate's plans)?

Some general questions... 1. a 149 w/ hydr lift - should it have the sleeve hitch on back or was this an option? 2.So IH built these CC's and they were a hit with hobby farms and big yards. They offered front blades, shredders, snow throwers, trailers, etc - why didn't they offer a loader...

I have the feeling I'm setting myself up with this question, but... What are these "gators" you guys are talking about with respect to the mowers?

Don, I know what you mean about trying to find cub parts in this area. I'm across the straight in New Westminster, B.C. I spent a whole day running around the valley trying to track down the original dealer in the area - no luck. Just when I told I had hit pay dirt in terms of who now has...

Aaron K. I recently acquired a 129 which wasn't running. The valves were pressed down to load the unit and they never came back up. I used a small wire brush to clean around the valves and the air to blow off any debris. I removed the valves and socked them in Hy-tran. I left a hy-tran...

Hello all. About my 129 and the racket it makes...the muffler isn't stock, or at least I suspect it isn't - doesn't look it. It has a 1" dia pipe coming out of a plate over the exhaust port. The pipe goes into a really rusty cantister muffler that points straight down at the ground...

Matthew M.: I have same issue (only for a 129 rather than 124 - both have same engine though). See post few previous to yours - no responses... I'm looking at this muffler: http://www.jackssmallengines.com/strapmain.cfm I will let you know the results if I proceed.

Got the 129 running today after unsticking the intake valve and rebuilding the carb to get rid of the old gas gum. Sure does have a lot of torque - I thought you guys were dreaming when you talked about wheelies! Giddy Up!!! At some point in the unit's life the muffler was changed/modified...

Hello. I'm still waiting for the manuals from the binder sponsor to come in the mail. ITMT some more CC129 questions: 1. The hydro check valves on this tractor are stuck down. I've pulled them out and soaked them in new hy-tran. Using WD40 I've freed the pins but they don't return on...

I'm working on a 129. Anyone know any easy method of unsticking a stuck intake valve (its stuck open). Also the hydro release valves are stuck down - any suggestions? I just acquired this 129. It had been lounging on a farm for a few years and needs a bit of coaxing back to life.
