    It ain't pretty but..........

Hey Paul - Here's what the hanger looks like. It hooks on the transaxle, and a hook bolt holds it in place. It's actually part of the Peco frame, but could be easily fabricated.

    It ain't pretty but..........

We have a pretty good grade going down to the water and the cub pulls the loaded trailer up without losing traction. I've got wheel weights on there and if I need more weight I can put some water in the barrel!

    It ain't pretty but..........

I didn't want to spend the $100+ that Trac Vac wanted for the white barrel top shown in John's photo so I used a Brute cover and put ventilation grates in it.

    It ain't pretty but..........

Just thought I'd post a picture of my leaf collecting setup. This 147 is the sweetest running cub I've ever owned. It sat outside under a tarp for 10 years, and put in fresh gas and a new battery and it starts and runs great. I put together the collection equipment out of an old Peco unit, add...

Correct mower belt for a 147?

The idler pulleys are OK but the pulley bracket that the spring is attached to was twisted. Some of it is due to wear between the bracket and shaft but also the bracket was bent/twisted as well. Took the mule off and bent/twisted the bracket back so the pulley is now in alignment. Need to get...

Correct mower belt for a 147?

Got a 147 here. I want to replace the belt runs from the clutch pulley, around the mule pulleys to the mower cause it keeps throwing the belt off the pulley on the mule. The mower deck is a 482 U 1113. The belt that's on it now is a 4L780 which I know is not the correct belt, but the length...

Sealed bearings on a mower hub?

OK thanks. I'll just put the new bearings in with the seals intact. I'm just familiar with old equipment I guess, kinda like me:>)

Sealed bearings on a mower hub?

Hi - Got a older commercial walk behind here with 1 blade hub that's pretty noisy. Thought the bearings are dry so I went looking for a grease fitting on the hub, but there isn't one. Took apart the the hub and the bearings are sealed on both sides. I've rebuilt a few hubs in the past, including...

    QA-42 driveshaft issues?

OK thanks for the advice. I have a parts washer with kero in it, I'll drop it in there for a few days. We'll see if that frees it up. If not I'll try the vinegar. In the meantime I pulled a functional driveshaft off of another QA I had sitting around so I got the snow cub up and ready for the...

    QA-42 driveshaft issues?

I took the driveshaft on my QA-42 blower off and discovered that it seems to be frozen - doesn't slide. I think its supposed to telescope in and out when you raise or lower the blower. I think that being frozen puts a lot of axial stress on the needle bearings in the sprocket mounting bracket...

Engine swap from a narrow frame to wide frame

Sorry I hit reply too soon. Thanks for finding those bearings for me. I should have known to look there. A few years back when I was really into these cubs I bought a bunch of stuff from CC Specialties - I think that's Travis right?

Engine swap from a narrow frame to wide frame

The QA bearings I need are the needle bearings on either side of the drive sprocket. I think they are IH pt no. 387835R1 replaced by 387835R2. Anyone know where to get them?

Engine swap from a narrow frame to wide frame

Hey Kenny, Scott and Mike - I appreciate the advice. I don't want to get into a situation where In have to cobble things together. If it was a straight conversion I'd do it but you guys pointed out some things I didn't consider. So a rebuild of the the 1450 motor is the best idea but I'll have...

Engine swap from a narrow frame to wide frame

Hi All, Been a long while since I've been working on my Cubs but time has finally come to get some work done. I have a 147 with a good motor and a 1450 with a weak motor. I'd like to swap motors and put the good motor in the 1450 which is all set up for winter with a blower and cab. I know the...
