I would just go get it. I have bought so many, my wife would never know the difference!

Spare parts for cheap.
If it breaks down, we've got a backup.
Upgrade of the current one.
My replies haven't worked.
Usually the counter-response boils down to: "Just buy a brand new one".

Take her to the Deere dealership and let her look at their compact tractors. Then get their price. That should do it!
