Need to re-power my 982 (dropped a cylinder on the Onan)

Kent, I re powered one of my 982's with a Mag 18. I used the original 982 drive shaft. From the looks of it, you should be able to bolt the engine in the 982 chassis using the mounting plate it came on. You will need the flange that bolts to the hub on the flywheel from a 1810/11 682/782...

Does anyone know the length of the drive belt for H48 snow thrower on a 982. Belt appears to be NLA from Cub Cadet so if anyone knows the right size it would help in sourcing one out. Thanks.

Kent- I guess you could retrofit power steering on to that 982 and then you'll be good to go on whatever deck you want.

The 54 GT deck will not work on the 982, 1912 or 1914. It will only mount on SGTs with power steering. The tie rod between the gearbox and front axle on manual steering tractors hits the sub frame on the 54 deck. I tried to put the 54 under my 1914 and found this to be he case. You cannot...

    Cub 1800 Electric Clutch Problem

Dale - check your wiring for safety switches, especially the no cut in reverse switch and wiring. I have seen many problems lately with that switch and wiring. Also make sure you seat safety switch is working properly as well.

Rick - Check the safety switch behind the dash for the no cut in reverse feature. It will cause the problem as well, or someones rig job to bypass the feature may be failing.

Thought I'd throw this out there here first: 1811. Its been sitting a couple years (PO bought a zero turn). It needs the carb cleaned and a tune up, and it will be fine. I have had it running by nursing gas down the carb. If no interest here soon my plans are to get it going and put a deck...
