How is everyone? College is crazy. One week in and we already have a deere 6.8 liter diesel torn down to the bare block. I have ran a brand-new, +$250,000 IVT equipped tractor. (IVT stands for infinitely variable transmission.) Basically, its just a giant hydrostat, except it can pull a lot more. Oh, if anyone at Deere asks, I didn't call it a hydro. From what I understand, they get a little pi$$y if you call it a hydro.

Charles-
Having a VERY good understanding of how that trans works (my paychecks used to come from the Product Engineering Center in Waterloo), it's basically a take-off of IH's torque amplifier, but applied to the Quad range series of transmissions. If you consider the ring gear of the TA and instead of either fixing it in place or let it over-run and drive it with a hydraulic motor, you get "infinitely variable" within a range. It's pretty simple, and worked quite well.

Agreed. I assume you know what-all can be done with the electronics. (Setting the speeds on F1 and F2 for fieldwork, for example..) It is really, really interesting..
