OK guys, somebody talk me out of this... I'm thinking about buying a 1512 Diesel.

Since I only know the IH series... What about:

Parts?

Service?

Reliability? (OK diesel withstanding... what about the guts of the tractor?)

Will I be able to buy a hitch to continue using my sleeve hitch (Brinly) implements?

It is very rough from what I have heard. It could be a money pit

Heh, do I detect a note of sarcasm?

I dunno, I'd really like a diesel and the price is right. But... I know from my F-250 diesel, it's reliable as hell, but when schtuff (big technical term!) breaks it is most certainly expensive.

Decisions, decisions, decisions... Part of me is saying to get it, the other parts is saying just get the 1000 roller and build what I want.

Rick M,
The 1512 is the followup to the yeller and white 882. And you can't beat the Kubota 3 cyl, for power.

Well, the part that said build a 1000 the way you want won out.

So if you want to know where the 1512 is, email myself or Tom Hoffman.

My dad has a 1512. It has a ton of hours on it (although I can't tell you how many, the meter stopped working the first year he had it). We used to mow 5 lawns a week a during the mid 90s.

Hard to start during the winter, a bit cramped to work on. We've had to replace 2 drive shafts, one end seal, and a PTO clutch.

Like I said it's been worked pretty hard but always taken care of.
