Chris,
You would probably would have gotten a quicker answer in the CCC & MTD section of the forum, since that is what the 1572 is considered. I have the 1512 Diesel (the model proceeding yours) I have a 340 CCA DieHard Gold to start mine. Unfortunately, that was the most powerful I could find that would fit under the hood. It really does a good job, unless it is in the middle of a really cold winter night, and the tractor hasn't been started in awhile. For those days, I have a block heater, and I also leave a Sears charger/starter sitting near my tractor. I really don't use my 1512 that much in the winter, but that little 75 Amp charge/starter will start it right up if I hook it up and leave it on the start setting for a few minutes. It is really important to get the glow plugs going in the winter. I keep my key turned for a good 45 seconds if it is below 20 degrees and it hasn't been started in awhile. Keep the charger/starter on the battery while you run the glow plugs, and it should start right up. In the spring, summer and fall, I have no trouble starting it up with just that battery. It is a U1/U1R (depending on what side you need the terminals on.) Hope that helps... SteveG
