Hey all got a 154 lo boy with Woods 59c belly mower. The belt slips and squeals on the center pulley. Rebuilt spindles and new belt adjusted belt according to manuel, tryed loose to very tight nothings seems to work what am I missing? Pulley problem? Help!

Check your belt routing. unless that center pulley bearings are froze it won't slip there. You have a single belt that wraps around the center pulley 3 times with the tighteners at the back below the PTO?

Dave, the belt routing is correct I double checked.it seems to work better with the belt towards the loose side. Tightening seems no better or worse. It just seems to be kinda bound up, problem started 3/4 way thru cutting the yard.Has worked great till now. I rebuilt the spindles and replaced the belt, the pulleys show some wear with a slight groove on them, this is not rocket science, I gotta be overlooking something.

The idlers okay? I think your right, if the spindles turn okay, it has to be something simple.

one idler is a touch noisey I got 2 new bearings to replace them with. There was a time the engine would bog down and the drive belt never made a sound. The belt even slips some when engaging pto. Even tried some belt dressing with no improvement

Have you spun the spindles without the belt on? Your not leaking oil anywhere are you? The belt shouldn't slip at all.

Well its fixed. I pulled all the covers and shields and headed for tall grass, I found the belts from the crank to the pto shaft slipping not the deck belt. The sound thru me off coming from the center. Looks like repairing a rear main seal is in the future.

Ray, glad to hear you got it, stuff like that will mess with a guy till it's figured out.
