Cub 1863 AMP charge light on after new battery

Hi All,
I have an 1863 that is 20 year old this year. I had some slow cranking issues with it all summer. Since the battery was at least 10 years old I got a new Group 26. Replaced it started right up, hasn't cranked that fast in years.
Every since the battery install whenever I use the PTO the AMP/charging light is on.
takes me about 90 minutes to mow, and light never goes out.
When I turn tractor off, and go to restart it no problem, cranks right over and starts great.
Did I get a bad battery?
Or something else wrong.
any and all ideas welcome

what you have in the 1863 is a garden tractor made by ccc/mtd you need to be in one thread above, but on to your issue, i don,t think your battery is bad but I am not good with that series.
We have a section below called manuals and you can check there it also has wiring diaghrams that have helped me
