Well, I just changed the fluid in my 1711 Hydro due to a leaking gasket on the rear end. I didn't realize changing the filter would be such an ordeal. The mule drive assembly is in the way of getting the filter in position easily. Anyway, what I'm wondering about is if there is another way of putting the fluid back in other than through the dipstick tube. It took forever. As I put the fluid in, air belched back out through the tube. I have looked all over for another orifice to add fluid, but found nothing. That's why I'm turning to the experts. Any help is appreciated.

Lots of people will take that rear cover off and drill a hole in it towards the top of the cover. Then they'll install a plug or some may even thread it and install a threaded plug. Then when you're ready to add fliud just remove the plug which will allow it to breath. I think another way is removing one of the check valves on top of the pump which will allow air to escape.

That clear 1/8" air line that they use for aquariums works great for that, get about 12" of the stuff, stick it down the tube and pour. It lets the air out and the Hytran in.
