Jason - I thought you were going to move the hole for the valve stem to the wide offset side??? Wouldn't you normally do that before painting them all up?

(in the first pic it looks like those Goodyears "bit the dust" - I see smoke rising up

David S -

I actually used vinegar for many of the smaller parts on the initial tear down of the 149, I don't know why I Never even considered using it in that quantity for the larger parts, Hmmmm, Awesome!

Hey there...Has anyone here ever replaced the auger bearings used on the QA-42-A snow thrower? If you have would you please be so kind as to post the procedure?

Thanks
John Mitchell

John M.
That's easy,
Take everything apart and off on both ends of the auger.
Slide the auger to the left, pull it out.
Replace the bearings and reverse the procedure!

I will admit I have never actually measured a bare rim minus tire for actual width. I presume my 8.5 wide tires are on 7 inch wide rims. My driveway is paved where dad's is not, so I want to use AGS minus chains, and dad will have turfs and chains. But I also will have a set of turfs with chains on stand by and reversed for dad. I thought about it today at work and do agree with Hydro and Jason W. The 782 probably won't see snow duty, but you never know. I'll use either the 1200 or 100. I'm going to pick up a heater to stick on #1-1450 hydro in dad's garage. Sometimes I forget the differences in plowing fields and snow

Jason, you'd be amazed at the"parts" I have in a 10x20 shed going into my 1 car garage, with said tractors too. Good thing dad has a 3 car garage!!

Oh, and I'll try and document the qa42a project when it gets started, not for a month or so unfortunately John.
But it looks like I will get an order soon for the tires, hope the v-61 do well in snow!

Charlie P -

It's obvious that I don't know enough about what I'm asking, and apparently I asked the wrong original question.

My Cub 127 does not have a plate with serial number, so I don't know what the serial number is.
I thought that above 400,000 was one type of frame, and below was another.
You said that the 127 was a narrow frame, so apparently my theory was wrong.

SO - without having the serial number, what can I measure or what identifying feature would give me a clue as to which side of the serial number line my 127 is, and thereby helping me to identify which belt I need?

Thanks for your help.

Josh S.
You need a IH-487045-R2.
For Tractor Serial No. 400,000 & below

Or,
IH-549250-R1
For -Tractor Serial No. 400,001 & above

Josh S.
All Cub Cadet 127's were serial No. 400,000 & below.

Any one know off hand the length of mounting bolts for engine in a 169 1'' or 1-1/4''

Michael,

I looked up the frame in the parts lookup above and found a list of associated screws, nuts and bolts. This is the only thing near the size you mentioned.

4 ea. 710-0514 Screw, 3/8-16 X 1-1/4 Znd Hex Hd Cap

I have a 12hp kohler in my 1282 the motor shakes bad I have a new carb coming that could be it because at idle, and full throttle it's not as bad because I can adjust the set screws. I do not know how to adjust the governor, I don't know if that could affect it. Any suggestions? Are those motors balanced?

Snow thrower question - does anyone use parts 23 and 24 shown in this picture? Do they help or hurt? Thanks!

So, the PO of the 147 said he quit using it because it was getting too hard to steer....
Hmmmm....
I wonder why!!!
First off, the jam nut was missing, then I noticed the cam follower was pushed way in...

Probably kind of hard to steer, no kidding!!
Wonder what the worm gear looks like! I can hardly wait!!

Kevin-I removed mine because wetter snow would get clogged up. They probably thought it was a good idea at the time. Notice new snow blowers don't have them and they move snow at a higher velocity ( except Charlie's
