well Heres the action shot!!Got the cabels done,still will put one from the engine to the frame but she's cranking great!Now for a new battery and some more carb adjustments and im in good shape.Somehow the lift cylinder rod doesnt leak,if you guys remember that sucker was rusty and a bit pitted,guess i got lucky,although it hasnt been under a load yet.I used one of the rims from the #1 123 as you can tell in the picture,thats the one with the crazy paint job by the PO!Like I belive Kraig said,the lift cilinder rod will now spend all its resting hours fully retracted,good tip Kraig.

any tips or tricks for breaking this loose? using pb blaster daily and still busted craftsman straight blade socket.

Donald - My '89 short bed 4.3L S-15 GMC. I sold it after 10 years. My '99 Silverado 4.3L got 17mpg towing a Vega wagon back at 70-90 mph from the farside of MO. ... then busted a brake line the next day ;)

Jason - The soldered (correct spelling ;) ) cable may not be as good of an idea as you might hope for. Starting pulls a lot of current which might loosen the solder. Keep an eye on it and see if it gets to hot. Good connections and heavy gauge wire (cable) sould make it ok.
 
Tim K - Since the paint isn't quite new anymore, you might give heat a try. Heat it up good and give a good solid rap with a bfh. Don't continue pounding on it though, or you might distort the head and/or damage the slot. At least that's what I'd try...

Tim - Those hand impact drivers are great for things like that. I've got an old K-Mart brand one that I've had way before I had a compressor and I even still use it now with all types of air tools in my tool box.
 
Tim, have you been spraying that from inside the frame rails or just from the outside? There's a nut welded to the inside of the frame, remove the grill screen and you should be able to get a good view of it then spray it down good from the inside. And like Lip suggested, heat might loosen it up too.

Are both of the holes on each side and in the front of a 100 supposed to have a nut welded on the inside of the frame?

Mine does, but I thought I read somewhere that just the rear most holes had the nut welded to the frame.
 
Beautiful day in Western Wisconsin today. If the weather-guessers are correct, I'll be putting this one to bed soon!
