    Mule drive problems

I get the forum info every day but haven't posted anything for a long while mainly because I haven't had any problems with my original ( sold) or the 129 that I have now...until now. The mule drive roller isn't keeping the belt tight. I assume it's the spring but I can't find any information...

    Four digit original

You might be hitting red lead primer. It was used on a whole lot of steel in the old days. Be sure to wear protection when your working around it.

    Mower Blade Orientation

Thanks very much for the information. I don't know if these are factory blades they don't look exactly like the FESM 2828 image but they are pretty well made and the rotation is secure and square with the deck I'm going to check the deck the next time I pull it. I don't recall seeing the...

    Mower Blade Orientation

I have a 129 with the 44 inch 3 blade deck I usually drop the deck twice a year and sharpen the blades. I've never paid much attention to the orientation of the blades when I re-mount them. No matter how you mount then they can't hit the other blades but the cut seems to have a high spot at...

    Favorite model?

I had an original for 25 years that ran when I sold it but I really like my 129..great running tough tractor, easy to maintain and troubleshoot without all of the fancy (costly) interlocks.

    102 ag tires

I ended up buying Carlisle turf tires 4-plyLRB from Walmart.. $65 each. Haven't got them yet, they are being delivered to the store...$12 each for mounting. I had ended up cutting the the old ones off and I figured it was worth it to let them do it.

    102 ag tires

Is this Summit Racing? I looked all over there today and can't find any 23x8.50-12 tires. Am I looking at the wrong Summit?

    102 ag tires

Along those lines, I'm thinking about some new tires for my 129...I recently put some new front tires on it and found that mounting them if they were sent collapsed was near impossible mounting them expanded tricky until I got the hang of it...Can you mount the rear tires with hand tools?

    125 Motor Issue?

I've had a 129 for 4 years ...no problems other than the usual maintenance issues but I noticed a filter in your breakdown of the breather assembly. I didn't know it had one. Should it be replaced or cleaned periodically ?

Ron S Thanks for the information. I looked in Charlies faq's and measured my old belt again and it's absolutely 79 inches so I'm going to go out and measure the pulley as the faq indicates a 79 on a 5 inch pulley and I seem to remember the guy I bought it from said something about a higher...

I haven't posted here for a while but I'm still cubbing and I stop in often to see what other cubbers are doing with their machines. Today I'd like to pick up some information. The main drive belt on my 129 w/50 inch deck finally broke after many good years and I've been checking around for a...

Thanks for the information. I'll give the screw method a try. If that don't work, I'll go to plan 2.

Good afternoon and Merry Christmas. I was getting my 129 ready for the snow that may never show up this year when I broke a grease fitting off on what I think is called the front axle pivot pin. The grease fittings that I'm familiar with are threaded but this one seems to be pressed in it had...

I found a solution to the gravel driveway problem long ago. I take tread section of an old steel belted tire and cut a strip about 4 inches wide and as long as the blade from the center. Believe it or not a porta-band will cut through it like butter. Remove the scraper edge, put the tire strip...

I get a kick out of these oil debates. I'm using valvoline 5-30 synthetic in my 129 right now and Kohler 30 in the summer. I pushed snow on Monday and today. Monday it was -15, it groaned a bit but started and ran fine. I had an original for 35 years all. It burned oil like crazy, looked like a...

Gentlemen, We had a few inches of snow last night. I was all ready with my 129, blade on, all lubed, tank full, fresh 5/20 oil in the crankcase. It started fine, I let it warm up but when I opened the choke the engine died, it did it every time until I gave it about a half choke and then it...

Thanks Dennis, I think I'll go with the tube. My O had tubes and they held for over 30 years. Now I've never installed a tube except on a bicycle. Do you just pull the shrader out of the valve stem, break the beads and feed the tube in or do you have to pull half of the tire off of the rim...

Thanks very much for the information about the ACR and the link to the engine manual. From what I've read I think it's working somewhere near it's design scope. I don't know what the engine is cranking at, it's well below 75 rpm's but it starts. So I guess it's ok. I can't get much into it now...
