I'm looking for a good tiller for my 1650. I also need to the sleeve hitch assy, or whatever is needed to hook the tiller up to the tractor. Would prefer Ohio, eastern Indiana, or western PA. Have a 50" deck with gator blades that have been used to cut the grass 2X and have the kit to update...

Does anyone have experience with POR-15 on a mower deck? I'm considering getting some to seal my deck.

I have been using a 350 CCA /275 amp battery in my 1650 and it seems I have to replace the battery about every other year. Unfortunately the standard battery box won't accomodate a very big battery and this little (in my opinion) battery doesn't turn the engine over very fast in cool (50F)...

I've seen some really nice pictures of restored mower decks posted here in the past. Can someone share their advice and experience with what works well on the underside? I've seen some nice restorations with Rhino lining type coatings and am curious how they hold up over time. Thanks.

Are the gear boxes on snow throwers rebuildable? Dad's is making a heck of a racket. He's not actually using it to move snow in August, but does use the snow thrower gear box to run a sprayer pump for spraying fruit trees. I think the thrower model is QA042. Thanks.

Wild Bill, I bought a QA042 in Akron at Christmas time and haven't had to use it yet in west central OH. Darn.

I didn't see where any of the sponsors sell tire chains. Anyone know of a good source for tire chains? I bought a QA42 yesterday and would like to put some chains on the 1650. Thanks.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback on the weights and chains on the 169 with a snowthrower. I'm going to tell Dad to keep the turf tires and chains and be careful not to spin them. He had so much fun restoring that 169 that maybe I can talk him into doing my 1650.

The family and I went to PA this weekend to visit the folks and to check out Dad's 169 that he just got done restoring. I think it's beautiful and told him so many times. Question--they had their driveway black topped this fall and Dad doesn't want to run chains on the 169 this year when...

Do any of you guys ever use oil other than SAE 30 in your cubs? I think we all agree that MMO is a pretty good additive, but what about heavier oils like SAE 40 or a multigrade like 5W-50? I have a 1650 that I use for mowing only (no cold weather operation) and would think that a heavier oil...

Thanks for the help on the sticking float. Is MMO marvel mystery oil? I've heard of guys using that for a lot of things. Thanks, Tom.

I really enjoy reading about everyone's cubs and looking at the nice pictures. Yesterday I ran into a problem with my 1650. It was the first time I mowed in about a month here (really dry) and after mowing I left the cub parked in the driveway. An hour later gas was coming out of the air...

In a couple of weeks Dad and I are making the trip to Mt. Pleasant, Iowa to the Red Power show. Can we expect to see a lot of Cubs there? We're both Cub crazy.

After having the engine in my 1650 overhauled I was reading through a Kohler manual that I downloaded from the Kohler website. The Kohler manual called for 4 pints of engine oil. My cub manual says that the engine holds 3 pints. Do you guys know which one is correct?

I'm trying to figure out how to post the picture. After doing a lot of reading on this site, this is my first post. I'm in the process of getting my 1650 ready for the mowing season and was planning on just changing motor mounts. After getting the engine out I noticed the frame was cracked...
