    Tiger Cruise

The ship was on it's way home from this deployment: 1996--After a short maintenance period, Essex embarked on a vigorous workup cycle, culminating in her participation in Rim of the Pacific Exercise (RIMPAC), a biennial, seven-nation naval exercise. On 10 October 1996, she embarked on her...

    Tiger Cruise

Hi Jeremiah, back in 1997 I to flew out to Pearl Harbor and boarded the USS Essex LHD-2 for a tiger cruise that sailed back to San Diego with two other ships in the group. My son was a marine on the ship assigned to a 20-ton LAV that rode on one of the LCAC's. Don't you just love their acronyms...

Todd I. Fuel filter maybe? If you bring the motor to an idle and it smooths out I wonder if it may be starving for gas? Just a thought.....

Just a little blow here .

Don T. I'm glad you didn't get the "brunt" of the storm and that you guys weathered it OK. At least the driveway should be a little cooler now, huh? Rob

I picked up a 1972 made 128 tonight. Snow blade, weights, chains and 44" mowing deck. Lights look weird. Kinda like bugeyes! PO had the gear shift lever off and said that it is "stuck" and won't even roll. Pushed the clutch in and rolled it onto the trailer! Time to start...

Jeremiah C. Welcome to the forum! Do you have an extra number in your serial number? I believe that the 782 was originally manufactured with a Kohler K17, series I. The upgraded KT17 Series 2 uses a pressurized oiling system so that the motor oiling is much improved. I think that there...

Hydro Harry, Wes and Dennis, Thanks for your words of encouragement. I really hope this guy is willing to deal. I am waiting for him to contact me to arrange a time to see this unit. I also found out that it has front hydraulics on it. Hey Gerry Ide.....you up for a road trip???? Rob

Gerry, Thanks for your input. I may go look at this unit this weekend sometime. I'll bet you probably already know where it is and the story behind it!! I'll let you know what happens. In the meantime, I did manage to trade a couple of broken snowmobiles for this 129 built in 1972...

Hydro Harry, Thanks for the info. So this could be an expensive repair? Maybe I better dig into the archives and look around for hydro pump/motor repairs. Have you ever been to Port Orchard? I have a BIL that lives there. Thanks again, rob

I'm going to look at a 1650 to buy and the owner says that when he gets about half-way done with his lawn the hydro starts "slipping"? Could maybe the cooling fan be shot and causing it to overheat and slip? Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks, Rob

    Making a wildlife Food Plot

On October 18th, I made a mock scrape to see what may come in. I loaded it with Tinks 69 and Tinks Doe Pee. I also put some gel on a couple branches. I think that I got the camera clock off by 12 hours. Dang military time anyway!! LOL And then the boys had to see what was going on!

Kraig, It is a model i230ir. It's only a 2 mb but it seems to do ok. The battery life is very good. I have been able to take a ton of pictures before changing them.

    Applied physics 101

Dennis, Thanks for the info. My 1-ton "wood hauler" has a little over 218,000 mi and runs great. It is a 2000 and when I bought it I figured that I would not even consider a replacement until 250,000 mi. I still LOVE my truck! I have heard that there may be some "jelling" problems when it...

    Applied physics 101

Strong thought, Kraig. I meant that I may want to use it in my "wood hauling truck" that I use on my own property up north! and I don't want it to

    Applied physics 101

I was able to acquire a good amount (about 800 gallons) of pure, virgin, food grade corn oil. I have done a little experimentation with mixing this with diesel fuel in a Kubota 3-cylinder diesel engine. It "appears" to run ok on this mixture. I started out at about a 10% mixture and have not...

    Rainbows

Got these pictures a couple of weeks ago on the way back from the U.P. in Michigan. Don't get to see a double rainbow much especially in Michigan! I think we have the least number of sunshine days in the US!
