    Kt17 m18 flywheels

it appears i have a case of the dumbass... my m18 flywheel has a cup already installed for a different application, and since it looks like cast iron i assumed that it was part of the flywheel... when actually it is a big bolted on part that can be removed - so i think i can put the cub cup...

    682 knocking question

its got about 1100 hours on it - ive still been using it every week to mow, but i think i will stop now since the knocking (especially at idle) is getting a bit concerning. :D id looove to put and M18 or M20 into this tractor, but not having much luck finding complete engines at all...

    682 knocking question

ok guys - here is a good one for ya: i have a 682 with kohler kt17s series 1 in it. the motor makes knocking noise (ya swear the rods are gonna exit soon). i know this is not uncommon, BUT - if i take the tension off of the pto belt, the motor is quiet as can be. no knocking at all. let...

    46gt deck question

so, i ended up pulling the engine and engine plate - put longer bolts in the front engine mount holes, then put it all back together with added spacers that add 9/16" height to those front two motor mounts (pto clutch side) which took up an extra 1 1/8th inch of belt length. it does make the...

    46gt deck question

both sides have the tab, so that isnt the problem - i think i will have to leave it set up the way it is - raise the engine up an inch or so to make up the difference, and use some nice borgeson u-joints in place of the rag joints. then at least i will be able to use the cub cadet belt. the...

    46gt deck question

hope the pics help - i am still considering raising the engine 1" - will that kill the driveshaft rag joints?

    46gt deck question

good idea - i will post some pictures tonight yet of the whole setup! wouldn't smaller deck pulley make this belt be even more loose? i wonder if there is a shorter double pulley stack - that might help?

    46gt deck question

if i put mine back one set of holes, my deck pulley grinds itself to death on the brake rocker shaft that hangs down just below the tractor frame

    46gt deck question

maybe i could raise the engine up 1" ? or would that throw off the drive shaft angle too much?

    46gt deck question

allen, that was the first thing i thought of too - but the installation manual for the mule drive/deck shows that it should be installed into that farther forward holes in the mule drive just like i have mine set up - i printed that document out last night and went over every connection/bolt to...

    46gt deck question

    46gt deck question

confirmed! looked up the 754-3042B number in the parts ordering system, and that number is superceded by the 954-3042B. so anyone putting a 46GT deck (336) onto a 82 series tractor (except supers) needs to use the belt 954-3042B. just like Matt said. (not that i didnt believe him, just...

    46gt deck question

ok, i think i have this figured out now (looking at the cub cadet parts system again) - i just wanna write this somewhere in case someone else runs into the same thing - the 46GT deck model number i have is 336 in the cub cadet parts system. they do not show a belt for this in the mule drive...

    46gt deck question

Matt - does your deck have part number 336190 on the tag?

    46gt deck question

also, on fitting the deck to the mower, i found that i had to use the forward set of holes for where the long hanger arms are bolted the the very front mule drive (the pivot bolts) - if i did not do that, that main drive pulley on the deck would touch the brake shaft under the tractor

    46gt deck question

cool - i will order that belt tonight. interesting info i found on the cub cadet parts page - i found that there are 2 different 46GT decks, look similar, but they show a different belt number for each of them - one deck is listed as 321 , and the other is 336 - the belts they show for these...

    46gt deck question

thanks a bunch matt! i had a couple original belts laying around, but those are for the 44c and 50c decks, and this 46gt belt is much longer - problem i had was i do not know what tractor numbers that this deck came with originally - that made it impossible to find the right belt at the cub...

    46gt deck question

hi all! i have installed the 46GT deck under my 682 - i had no idea what belt to use from the motor to the deck, so i measured and used a Gates B99 belt. it worked, and mowed fantastic, but the belt is coming apart - i dont think this belt likes the compound bends it has to make. my question...
