Wayne, I put a new petcock on this tank b/c the valve wouldn't close. Was able to find one at my local mower shop. Thanks for the heads-up though. Ian

Thanks again Kraig, I am using an mower filter. I think I will go out and get a new condenser and points. Ian

Sorry to double post, but I forgot to ask about the condenser. Are condensers specific for these motors? I have several condensers off automotive distributors lying around. Would they work or really mess something up? It shows that I really don't even know what the condenser's job is. Ian

Thanks Kraig, There is no sediment bowl on this one, just fuel hose w/ an inline filter and a pet-cock. I didn't check the vent hole specifically, but I did remove the gas cap and didn't notice much difference. How full should an inline filter be? This one isn't even half-full. Thanks for the...

I've recently resurrected a nice 100. It runs great, mostly. It'll run, then stall and die like it's out of gas. I can pull the bowl off the carb, blow it out w/ carb cleaner and get it running again for a short while. The fuel line and filter are brand new. I know it sounds like trash from the...

Here are my Cubs(2x100's & 1x149) and one of my Scouts. This Scout is a 78, my other is a 1980(last year for Scout). Needless to say, IH runs pretty thick around here. Ian

I've had plenty of Cub time since I got home from work yesterday. Anyway, I posted some clutch q's concerning one of my 100's. My t/o bearing replacement went off w/out a hitch thanks the BruceN and MattG's tips(and the archives too). Just wanted to let you guys know that the help is much...

Thanks Bruce I bought this 100 the day before I came back to work and really didn't have time to dig into it. The tractor is pretty nice and I wanted it, so I took a chance on this clutch issue. Hopefully, I'm not opening up a can of worms. I did a little research and found that some guys...

Hey guys, I have a newbie clutch question for you all. Some may remember me posting a couple of weeks ago about a 100 I bought. Well, I bought another 100 and the clutch is "out" on this one. I got it from my local CC "expert" and he said the throwout bearing was bad. My question is this, will a...

Here's a tip for soaking up oil, hy-tran,etc---wool. A friend sent me an old steering box for one of my Scouts and packed the box w/ wool from his sheep. Wool will soak up a ton of liquid and can be rung out and used again. I soaked up all the liquid this way, now I need to cut the residue so...

Thanks Alan I got it going. I had to take it all apart(again). Don't know what I did wrong the first time. As soon as I had the case apart, the splined shaft was free. Bolted it back together, installed it, and drove it out of my shop. Hopefully after all this, it won't leak. I've got a shiny...

Update on replacing the front seal on the hydro on my 149. It's back together and full of hy-tran, but I have no movement whatsoever. The hyd lift doesn't work, there's no forward or reverse. When I move the lever to either position, I hear a buzzing noise. I changed the front gasket and the...

Well, I got my 149 put back together. I bought a cork gasket from CC just to have a solid reference to trace on the neoprene gasket. I also replaced the gasket on the hydro housing. It came apart surprisingly easy. I only had a couple of quarts of hy-tran left, so I won't know if it's all sealed...

Thanks Robert and Kevin Thanks for the link Cubfaq link too. Are you guys using neopreme for the diff cover too? Or is it not available in sheets that big? I guess I'll find out today when I get some. Thanks again. Ian

Hate to run this into the ground even more. But is the neopreMe gasket stuff readily available? I read through a ton of old posts and never saw anyone mention where to get this stuff. Can I get it at Napa and the like? Thanks, Ian

Thanks Scott I already split the 149. Man did I make a huge mess--Hy-Tran everywhere. I read about using neoprene instead of cork. Are you guys getting your gasket material from auto parts stores? I did get some seat time this a.m. though. Mowed my front yard w/ my newly acquired 100 and...

Hey guys, Finally found where the leak on the hydro on 149 is coming from-the front gasket. I did a search and found a thread from 2004 about this very topic. My question is, are there any new tricks/secrets to share since this thread five years ago? Or is that info still the most accurate...

Bobby & Tom Thanks for the heads up on the deck. The guy I bought this one from fancies himself as an expert on all things Cub Cadet and told me the deck on this 100 was called that. On his behalf, he's got a ton of them. Now, I've got two Cubs to go with my two Scouts. My wife thinks I'm...

Thanks Kendall. Once they were broken loose, I squirted some lithium grease on them(all I had on hand). BTW, anyone ever heard of a mower deck being referred to as a "brush hog" deck? Here are a coule of pics for your viewing pleasure. Ian
