I've visited some sites that show the serial numbers of the RED CUB CADETS series, however they do not clearly allow me to learn the exact year the tractor was built. Can somebody give me a site that will do this?

I cleaned up my hydro tractors (129 and 1650) today and replaced the transmission oil filter on each. I noticed one of the 5 blades on the plastic cooling fan is missing on the 1650. Must this be replaced or can I get by with it like that? Looks like a project to replace it.

Shade Tree.........I just purchased 2 cans and read the labels. Says no primer is necessary, apply to cleaned bare metal. So, that's the way I will do it.... when I can make the proper temp (68-90) degree range for application. It's now 28 degrees here in ol' Rochester, NY, home of many many...

Thanks "Shade Tree Mechanic." Do I need to apply a rust stopper or primer before the Truck Bed Coating? I called and our Walmart has the product you mentioned, $6.96 a can. Will I need a can for each of my 44A mower decks at a couple coats each? I too mow only when the grass is dry. Dick...

I have cleaned the bottom of my two 44A mower decks in preparation for painting them so any rust that has started is stopped and making it easier to clean come mowing season 2006. Is there any specific coating that anyone can recommend?

More on my 1650 hydraulic lift lever. My main problem is that I cannot get at or see the area where the lever rod connects to the valve linkage. There is no way to take the dash off or see what type pin makes the connection. Does anyone have a picture of this lift rod connected to the valve...

On my 1650 the hydraulic lift control lever has become disconnected where it is fastened to the connector link which controls the valve. Little room to work in there even after I removed the fuel tank. I can see a hole throught the control rod shaft by the connector link. Now I am lost...

Attention SHADE TREE MECHANIC: I adjusted the gap in my electric PTO clutch on my 1650 today. Each of the 4 nuts had to be moved some. It certainly was not at .010. Playing with it while cold worked very good today. I put it all back together again and will mow tomorrow for an extended time...

In the worst case senario, if I need to replace the electric PTO clutch on my 1650, does anyone know of a source for purchasing a unit cheaper that that offered by my local CC dealer at $278?

To The Shade Tree Mechanic & Aqitch: Thanks you guys. Since I last posted on the subject of my 1650 electric PTO clutch, I found in my log book where when the first 2 clutches went bad, (1983 and 1999) they were blowing fuses. That has not happened this time. So I believe the problem is as...

Today my wife was mowing with the IH CC 1650 using the PTO dash switch when necessary. When she disengaged the PTO to move over the driveway it would not engage. Oh boy, all I could think of was the two previous times this happened, 15 years ago and 6 years ago. At that time I had to replace...

You Cubbers won't believe this one! Today I was GIVEN a IH Cub Cadet 128 with mower deck, 3 PT hitch, lights and lift assist. It runs but the gear shift lever has a ton a "play" and does not change the gears. Any suggestions about the gear shift?

HELP! I must put my Model 44A mower deck from my CC 129 onto my CC 124 tractor that had a 48" mower deck on it. The support clevises line up with the center frame lift arms and the spring-loaded support pins align okay, but the clevises won't quite fit inside the lift frame. I'm thinking...

Digger: Thanks, I will check the ground wire. Is that the battery ground wire or the wire on the right front going from the frame to a bolt on the generator/starter mounting bracket?
