For you folks who either have a "china"

made sand blast cabinet or are thinking of getting one and the folks who don't have a big enough air
compressor to handle it this might catch your eye. This company http://www.tptools.com/Default.aspx
sells a kit which will upgrade your gun and pick up tube

html for $69.00. (as of 8-30-11 $79) The new gun and pick up tube fix a lot of issues with the stock gun.
Now to make it even better If you have a smaller air compressor, equip this gun with a small nozzle/air jet setup for 4-8 cfm @ 80-100 psi.

This new set up also keeps you from trying to find the odd ball Ceramic nozzles.

Now for you folks here is a simple fix for your cabinet to help with picking up media. if you have the stock
pick up tube.

229747.jpg

Measure 1 inch from the bottom end of the long tube.

229748.jpg

Cut the one inch off you just measured from the long tube. Becareful to not cut into the other tube.

229749.jpg

Now the 1 inch piece you cut out, cut it in half length ways and save it. Dress up all cuts.

229750.jpg

Measure up 1 inch from where you cut and drill a 5/16 inch hole through the long tube and into the short tube.
DON'T DRILL ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE SHORT TUBE. You're making a suction passage between the two tubes.

229751.jpg

229752.jpg

Now pinch the end closed on the long tube.

229753.jpg

Clean up all drill holes and pinches with a file. Remove all paint from around the drill holes and pinches.

229754.jpg

Take the 1 inch piece you cut in half and fit it over the 5/16" hole you drilled in the long tube.

229755.jpg

I used JB weld for the next part. Mix up JB weld and apply some around the 5/16" hole and set the half piece over the hole and apply
JB weld around the outside edges to seal it and hold it in place. Seal the pinched end with JB weld to.
You also want to apply JB Weld to the area between the 2 tubes to seal up the hole so the suction works.

229756.jpg

After the JB Weld sets up from the other end measure up 1 inch from the top of the short tube and drill a 1/8" hole in the long tube.
ONLY DRILL THROUGH ONE SIDE. NOT THROUGH THE WHOLE TUBE. This is a bleed air hole.

229757.jpg

This mod makes it so the air is pulled down the short tube making a suction above the media in the tube and pulling in the media
better and the bleed hole smooths out the flow even better.
I did this to mine and made a big change. Hope this helps someone else out.

Thanks Ken-

Good job!

I should say this isn't my work. This was comprised by Aaron at Xtrememotorworks and sent to me from him a while back. I didn't know how to post it so I sent it to Ken for posting.
