HEY!!! aren't those mine?

Sorry to ask about deck spindles again. None of my decks have the friction disk between the blade and spindle cup. Is the friction disk something that is really necessary?

Scott, yeah, I may have posted those for you once before.

However, I think I may have enough to go around, and around, and around...

If you are still running XP, windows has a great Photo Resizer "Power Toy" app that plugs right into XP and allows easy photo resizing with a simple right click of the mouse. Check the MS Windows Downloads site for Photo Resizer Power Toy.

Found something similar for my parents W7 machine as well.

Charlie - don't think I ever saw Jonathan's site/link. Can I just copy the chart into a post?
This list isn't gospel but is accurate as far as I know for IH Cub Cadets having a U in the serial number tag. For those of you that haven't seen this list you probably should copy it really quick since it has some off topic info and might get poofed.

International Harvester Cub Cadet and Cadet Product Codes / Model Designations

Following are IH Codes for Tractors/Riders with Serial Number Tags having a letter "U", with
seven digits to the left of the U, and six digits to the right of the U.

First three digits (to the left of the U) identify Product Code. Next four digits identify the Model Designation
Six digits (following the U) identify consecutive unit build number
i.e. 2050042U123456 = The first three digits 205 identify this tractor as a Cub Cadet Garden Tractor, and
the next four digits identify it as a Model 86. The six digits after the U identify it as the 123,456 tractor built

Lance-

That tractor has lots of potential. I don't know how far you plan to go with a refurb but I'd look for another left side panel and just get the proper air cleaner for the 1650 which is also the same for the 1250 and 1450 among others. I'd definitely pull that engine for cleaning and maybe some new skin. You'll find many, many things that could use some attention from "bumper to bumper". You're getting ready to see how you can't own just one either (except a guy up in Washington state).

Also, when tearing one down pictures will be your best friend for when it comes time to reassemble things. It's one of the best things about the digital age IMO.

Good luck!

Charlie - just wanted to say thanks for the bead blast cleaning advice a couple days ago. Found an engine/machine that will run my block and all through their vat washing system today. $25 per block and components! Seems cheap to me.

ROB F. - re Deck spindle friction washers. Any decks I may have been around the last FIFTY years may have had them when they were new but I KNOW none of them the last 32 years have EVER had any and they all have mowed just fine.

All the decks I've ever run have had large 3/4" ID heavy flat washers between the hex nut and blade, and depending on how true the deck was may have a few thinner shim washers between the spindle and the blade. To get the best cut you have to have all the blades parallel and as close to perfectly in-line as you can.

According to Harry's post I may have the wrong engine in my 1650 which is a 1250 reading these numbers. Are you sure these numbers are correct?
My serial no. is 2050630U612727 and its a 16 hp engine.
